No. 7 Jennies Volleyball Entertains Missouri Western for Home Opener Tuesday

This Week
• After going 3-1 in the Colorado Premier Challenge Sept. 10-11, No. 7 Jennies volleyball (7-1, 0-0 MIAA) is slated to host the Missouri Western Griffons (7-1, 0-0 MIAA) for their 2021 home and MIAA opener Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. at the UCM Multipurpose Building.
• In the Colorado Premier Challenge in Denver, UCM swept No. 22 Rockhurst and Texas A&M-Commerce, while downing No. 15 Lewis in five sets and falling to No. 6 MSU Denver.

Last Time Out
• The Jennies battled to a 3-2 win over Lewis Saturday, Sept. 11, in their final match of the Colorado Premier Challenge.
• Kersti Nix compiled a career-high 19 kills on 42 attempts with only six errors for a .310 attacking percentage to lead UCM, while Ally Offerdahl added a team-best 45 assists, and Rylie Barnum compiled a career-high-tying 20 digs. Hannah Engelken added six blocks.
 
Weekly Honors
Redshirt senior middle blocker Audrey Fisher was voted the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for her performance on the court during the week of Sept. 6-12.

Fisher led the Jennies in their 3-1 showing in the Colorado Premier Challenge Sept. 10-11 in Denver, hitting a blistering .370 with 43 kills on 92 attempts with just nine errors in UCM's four matches. She added a team-high-tying 13 blocks (one block solo, 12 block assists), going along with a trio of service aces. 

In Central Missouri's 3-0 sweep over Rockhurst Saturday, Sept. 11, Fisher hit an impressive .650 with 13 kills on 20 swings and no errors and added four blocks in the contest. She tallied 11 kills in the Jennies' five-set win over Lewis University Saturday, as well as 12 kills in UCM's sweep of Texas A&M-Commerce Friday, Sept. 10, and seven kills against MSU Denver. 

For the week, Fisher averaged 2.87 kills and 0.87 blocks per set. 

UCM in the Polls
• The Jennies are one of four MIAA volleyball teams in the latest AVCA Top-25 Coaches' Poll released Sept. 13. Nebraska Kearney is first, Washburn is third, the Jennies are seventh, and Northwest Missouri is 12th.
• In the MIAA preseason poll, the Jens were picked to finish fourth behind Nebraska Kearney, Washburn and Northwest Missouri. They finished with 75 points.
 
Individual Milestones
• Ally Offerdahl moved up to eighth on the UCM career assists chart with her 148 assists in the Jennies' four matches in Denver. She sits at 4,231 career assists.
• Audrey Fisher needs just five more blocks to get to 300 in her career.
• Hannah Engelken is 17 blocks shy of 300 for her career. She is also just eight kills away from reaching 600 in her Central Missouri tenure.

 
.300 or Better
• Under Coach Piontek, Central Missouri 121-0 when they hit at least .300. While it hasn't happened often under Piontek, UCM is just 3-13 when surrendering a .300 attack percentage to their opponent. The Jennies hit better than .300 in 10 matches in 2019.
 
MIAA Leaders
• Entering Tuesday's MIAA home opener vs. Missouri Western, the Jennies rank first in the MIAA in blocks at 2.26 per set. UCM is second in opponent hitting percentage, holding its adversaries to .131 hitting, and third in hitting percentage at .254. Central Missouri is also in the top-three in assists (13.15 assists per set) and ranks fourth in kills (13.93 kills per set).
• Individually, Hannah Engelken is the MIAA leader in blocks through eight matches, averaging 1.33 blocks per set with 36 total blocks, while Ally Offerdahl is fourth in assists (10.56 assists per set) and Kersti Nix is fourth in kills (3.78 kills per set).
