WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 15, 2021) - Central Missouri Soccer will host its final matches of the spring season this weekend on Jennies Field. Central Missouri will first face Newman Friday night, then take on Missouri Southern Sunday afternoon in a senior day celebration.
Friday nights match against Newman is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex. The Jets post a spring record of 2-5-2 and have been outscored 9-4 this season. Newman travels to Warrensburg on a three game losing streak. In the Jets last outing, the suffered a 1-0 shutout loss to Northeastern State on the road.
Sunday's match against Missouri Southern is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Jennies Field. The Lions are 4-6 this spring. The MSSU offense has scored a total of 13 goals while the defense has allowed 15. The Jennies and Lions previously met this season which resulted in a 3-2 MSSU victory in overtime. In the Lions last outing they went 90 minutes without a goal and fell 3-0 to Central Oklahoma.
Central Missouri will honor its 2020-21 senior class prior to kickoff against MSSU. The four seniors being recognized are
Skylar Drum,
Haley Freeman,
Emma Jarrell, and
Makayla Toth.
The Jennies post a 6-4 record on the spring season. The offense has totaled 23 goals while the defense has allowed 20 goals. Freshman forward
Sydney Leslie leads the Jennies with seven goals while
Caroline Cole and
Kassie Newsom have totaled four each. Central Missouri went 1-1 on the road last week with a 3-2 overtime victory against Central Oklahoma and a 1-4 loss to Rogers State.
Admission to both Friday and Sunday's games is free of charge.
