Jennies Compete at Nebraska Big Red Classic

LINCOLN, Neb. (Feb. 28, 2021) - Central Missouri Jennies Bowling finally played in their first multi-team tournament of the season over the weekend. UCM took part in the Nebraska Big Red Classic where they placed eighth among 11 teams.

Central Missouri finished 5-7 against other teams. They totaled 12,850 pins for a 197.7 average. 

On day one in Baker frame matches, the Jennies defeated upper Iowa, Vanderbilt and Valparaiso. Vanderbilt is the number two ranked team in the country. 

In traditional matches, the Jennies were 2-3 against opponents on the second day of the tournament. They started out with wins over Quincy and Lincoln Memorial 1033-895 and 953-899. However UCM fell to McKendree, Maryville and Arkansas State to finish the day. The Jennies scored better than 1,000 pins in two matches on the day.

The tournament finished with three more traditional style games. They took on three top-10 ranked teams falling to Nebraska 1150-959, Youngstown State 1073-964 and Maryville 1112-927. 

There was no bracket play to conclude the tournament. Nebraska opted to play all of day two and three as team matches, which the NCAA has given the option for due to COVID-19. 

Tatum Ruffalo was the Jennies top finisher placing 27th and averaging 202.13 pins, 1,616 total in eight games. 

The Jennies will play again next weekend at the Vanderbilt Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn.
