Gaven Strobel ripped the first pitch of the inning over the left center field fence to tie the game at two.

• The score stayed that way until the eighth. Pennington led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a throwing error by the catcher getting the Mules within one, 6-5. Back-to-back walks put the tying-run in scoring position, but vanBreusegen went down swinging on a 3-2 slider to end the threat.
• Davenport threatened to add to their lead in the ninth. They loaded the bases with one out, but
Chase Plymell worked out the jam with a strikeout and a ground out to end the inning.
