No. 2 Jennies Up Winning Streak to 11 with Sweep of Missouri Southern

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Ally Offerdahl tallied a career-high four service aces and Hannah Engelken had 13 kills leading No. 2-ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies volleyball to a 3-0 sweep of the Missouri Southern Lions Thursday, Oct. 28, inside the UCM Multipurpose Building. The set scores were 25-5, 25-8 and 25-8.

With the win, the Jennies improved to 21-2 overall and 14-1 in the MIAA and upped their season-best winning streak to 11 matches while the Lions dropped to 3-22 on the season and 0-15 in MIAA action.

Central Missouri limited Missouri Southern to -.026 hitting in the contest, marking the first time since 2017 UCM has held an adversary to a negative hitting percentage for a match.

The Jennies also kept an opponent from reaching double digit points in a contest for the first time since 2000 – when sets were played to 15 points, instead of 25.

Offerdahl, a redshirt senior from Prairie Village, Kan., added a match-best 26 assists to her career and match-high four service aces, while Engelken, a redshirt junior from Overland Park, Kan., tallied her 13 kills on 21 attempts with no errors for a blistering .619 hitting percentage.

Kersti Nix also reached double digit kills in the one-hour, one-minute match with 10 kills on 16 swings and one miscue for .600 hitting. Jackie Storm paced Central Missouri defensively in the contest with 12 digs, while Audrey Fisher, Sydney Lierz and Grace Southern all had a match-best two block assists.

Fisher added seven kills on 10 attempts with no errors for .700 hitting – the 11th consecutive contest she has hit at least .300 or better.

The Jennies hit a season-best .548 in the match while keeping the Lions in negative territory for hitting. UCM outhit Missouri in set one, .773 to -.222; set two, .528 to .167 and the third and final set, .385 to -.107.

The Jennies bested the Lions in all facets of the contest, including kills (48-13), aces (9-0), blocks (5-0), assists (43-12) and digs (41-30).

Josey Goldberg had four kills, while Sophie Mader compiled 100 assists, pacing Missouri Southern, respectively.

Central Missouri is scheduled to begin a four-match road trip with a match at Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kan., Saturday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m.
