No. 3 Jennies Take Down No. 2 Ichabods in Topeka Thursday, 3-1

TOPEKA, Kan. – Kersti Nix posted a career-high 19 kills leading No. 3 University of Central Missouri Jennies volleyball to a 3-1 victory at second-ranked Washburn Thursday, Oct. 21, inside Lee Arena. The set scores were 25-19, 17-25, 30-28 and 25-22.

The Jennies (18-2, 11-1 MIAA) handed the Ichabods (19-3, 11-2 MIAA) their first home loss of the season with the victory Thursday. Washburn entered the match at 12-0 inside Lee Arena and winners of 20 consecutive home matches dating back to 2019.

Nix, a redshirt sophomore from Overland Park, Kan., recorded her career-best 19 kills on 36 attempts with just one error for a .500 attacking percentage, while Audrey Fisher added 10 kills and hit .421, and Hannah VanBuskirk tallied 10 kills, leading the Jennies attacking in the win.

Ally Offerdahl dished out a team-high 45 assists, Rylie Barnum made a team-best 25 digs, and Hannah Engelken had five blocks, rounding out the Central Missouri leaders in the contest.

The Jennies outhit the Ichabods in the match, .278 to .241, and were a force at the net, out-blocking Washburn, 10-6, including a 3-0 advantage in block solos and 14-12 edge in block assists.

Fisher, Engelken and Offerdahl each had block solos, while six different Jennies compiled at least one block assist.

Central Missouri committed just 13 errors on 158 total attempts and had 57 kills as a team in the contest, while Washburn made 25 miscues on 174 swings with 67 kills.

Allison Maxwell and Genna Berg each had 15 kills, leading the Ichabods.

The Jennies are scheduled to return home to the UCM Multipurpose Building for a 7 p.m. MIAA match against Emporia State Saturday, Oct. 23.
