Jennies Head North for Two MIAA Road Games

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Feb. 5, 2020) - No. 18 Central Missouri Jennies Basketball puts their 14-game winning streak on the line this week when they hit the road for a pair of MIAA games.

• The Jennies sit atop the MIAA standings as the only unbeaten team at 11-0.
• UCM is in the midst of a season-long 14-game winning streak. They've won 17 straight MIAA regular season games dating back 2018-19.
• Central Missouri defeated both Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western earlier in the year. They have nine straight wins over the Bearcats and have won seven straight over MWSU. 
• UCM can match the longest winning streak under Coach Slifer at 16 set in 2017-18.

Last Time Out

• Central Missouri kept rolling with wins at home over Emporia State and Washburn. The Jennies scored more than 70 points in both games with 83 against the Ichabods. Nija Collier had a double-double in each game and was the MIAA Player of the Week. 

Previously vs. Northwest Missouri/Missouri Western
• The Jennies trailed by one at the half against Northwest Missouri before turning on the defense and allowing just 13 points in the final 20 minutes. Four Jennies scored in double-figures led by Morgan Fleming's 26. 
• Against the Griffons, the Jennies were down four at the half but outscored MWSU 22-10 in the fourth quarter for a nine-point win. Nija Collier scored 19 points while Megan Skaggs added 15. 

Jennies in the Rankings
• The Jennies have been ranked by the WBCA in 43 of the last 50 polls dating back to the 2016-17 season. They re-entered the WBCA top-25 rankings last week at No. 22 and moved up to No. 18 this week.
• Central Missouri is ranked 11th in the D2CCA poll.
• The Jens were picked second in the MIAA preseason coaches poll, following their 15-4 conference season in 2018-19.

Individual Milestones
• Kim Crown is seven points away from 300. 
• Nija Collier is 26 points shy of 300 and 12 rebounds shy of 200.
• Morgan Fleming needs four steals to get to 100 and 13 rebounds to get to 500. 

1,000 Point Club
• Both Morgan Fleming & Megan Skaggs started the 2019-20 year as members of the 1,000 point club. Fleming has 1357 while Skaggs is at 1518. Skaggs is currently 9th all-time, 27 points away from 8th. Fleming is 17th & 3 away from 16th, 18 away from 15th.

10 Below
• For the last four seasons the Jennies have made a habit of holding teams to fewer than 10 points in at least one quarter. It's happened in 55 games dating back to the 2016-17 season and in those games, UCM is 50-5. The Jens were 15-1 when doing so in 2016-17 and 18-1 in the run to the national championship, including four of the six NCAA postseason games. The Jens defense has cranked it up again, holding opponents to fewer than 10 points in nine of their 20 games, and are 8-1 so far in 2019 when doing so.

60 and Under
• In 14 of 20 games this season, the Jennies have held opponents to fewer than 60 or fewer points scored. Truman State was the first to break the 60-point barrier hitting 63. The most UCM has allowed this season is 68.
• The Jennies are allowing just 56.6 points per game this season which is the second-best in the MIAA and the 21st best in Division II.

• Morgan VanHyfte remains hot with 8.7 ppg, 24 steals, 19 assists and 20 rebounds in her last seven games. 
• Gigi McAtee has a three in five straight games
• Morgan Fleming has scored 19 points in back-to-back games. 

Pulling Away
• The Jennies have been pulling away in the second halves of games this season. They are scoring 36.55 points in the second half this season and 33.55 in the first half. 
• UCM has built leads with their defense in the 1st, allowing just 254 1st-quarter points, 12.7 per game. 

MIAA Leaders
• Megan Skaggs is fourth in the MIAA scoring 16.5 points per game while Morgan Fleming is 6th at 15.2. Both Skaggs, Fleming and Nija Collier are in the top-10 in scoring in MIAA only games. 
• Collier is also leading the league in rebounding with 9.4 & is 2nd with 1.8 blocks per game. Fleming is 5th with 3.7 assists per game.
• Morgan VanHyfte is tied for fifth with 2.0 steals per game. 

Go Up and Get Em!
• The Jennies rebounding has been outstanding in MIAA games. They are the only team to average more than 40 rebounds in MIAA contests at 41.4 per game and their +11.9 rebounding margin is the best by nearly more than double the next closest team. 
• Nija Collier is pulling down 11 rebounds in MIAA games, the only player in double-figures. 

Scouting the Opposition
Northwest Missouri Bearcats (10-10, 5-6 MIAA)

• After a season-long five game losing streak, Northwest Missouri has won back-to-back games to move back to .500 at 10-10 and are 5-6 in the MIAA.
• The Bearcats are 4-4 playing at home.
• Northwest Missouri leads the league shooting 80.3% from the free throw line.
• The Bearcats are allowing 57.4 points per game and 61 points in MIAA only games.
• Northwest Missouri has one of the best turnover margins in the MIAA at +2.60. They've forced teams into nearly 16 turnovers per game while losing just over 13 per game themselves.
• Two Bearcats are scoring in double-figures. Kendey Eaton is scoring 13.9 points per game and Mallory McConkey 11.6. Jaelyn Haggard has 45 three-pointers and is scoring 9.6 points per game. 
• NWMSU is being outrebounded by more than seven boards per game, towards the bottom in the MIAA.

• After winning seven straight games, the Griffons are playing .500 with three wins and three losses in their last six.
• Missouri Western is 9-1 this season at home. 
• Missouri Western has four scoring in double-figures led by Corbyn Cunningham's 14.9 points per game. Chris Wilson is right behind her at 14.6 while Katrina Roenfeldt and Anastacia Johnson each scoring more than 10 points per game.
• Cunningham and Wilson are both in the MIAA top-5 in field goal percentage and rebounding. Cunningham is third shooting 55% and Wilson fifth at 53.3%. They each average 8.3 rebounds per game.
• The Griffons are forcing 17.8 turnovers per game but losing 16.2 themselves. 
• MWSU is allowing just 59.4 points per game, fifth in the league.
