On This Day in UCM History: October 15

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (October 15, 2020) - With the suspension of fall sports, that means we are bringing back On This Day in UCM History: Fall Edition. We'll relive some UCM highlights from our fall sports. Today's On This Day in UCM History is presented by Sodexo.

Mules Football scored touchdowns on all six first half drives and racked up 672 yards of total offense in a 56-7 victory over Missouri Southern. Quarterback Garrett Fugate led UCM with 370 yards of total offense and accounted for five touchdowns. He was 22-of-36 for 275 yards with four scores and an interception while also rushing for 95 yards and a score on nine carries.

Also on October 15:
1989: Jennies volleyball swept both West Texas A&M and Metro State 3-0 on their final day of the Metropolitan State Invitational to win the entire tournament.
2005: Quarterback Toby Korrodi finished 23-31 with 266 yards and four touchdown passes in football's 27-24 victory over Missouri. John Samia led the UCM defense with three sacks, 10 tackles and a forced fumble which resulted in a Mules touchdown.
2009: Jennies Volleyball won a five-set battle against Nebraska-Omaha (25-18,25-18,16-25,22-25,15-10). Allie Huffman led the UCM offense with 19 kills while also recording 16 digs. Caitlin Pankratz also finished with a double-double, totaling 50 assists and 10 digs.
2011: In a 35-7 win over Fort Hays State, Mules football held the Tigers without a first down in the first half and to 236 yards of total offense for the game. Offensively, the Mules finished with 613 yards of offense, 407 through the air and 206 on the ground. Quarterback Tommy Corwin finished 29-of-45 for 398 yards and four touchdowns. Corwin also rushed for 33 yards giving him 431 yards of total offense, which was the fourth highest single-game total in school history at the time. His 398 passing yards was the eighth highest single-game total in UCM history at that time as well.
2013: Jennies soccer defeated Rockhurst 2-1 in overtime. Julie Ireland scored the Jennies game-winning goal off an assist from Carly Stanley. The goal was Ireland's second of the match.
2013: Mules golf finished second out of 19 teams at the Missouri Western Invitational. Cy Moritz led UCM with a second-place finish after a 54-hole total of 212, one-under par.
2017: Jennies soccer continued their undefeated streak with a 2-1 victory over Washburn. Baylie Edwards scored the first goal of the match on a penalty kick then it was Mikala Mordiri scoring the game-winning goal early in the second half.
2019: Jennies volleyball swept Northwest Missouri in three sets (25-20, 25-14, 25-18) to even up the season series at one game apiece. Aubree Bell recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs while Hannah Engelken hit .526 with 11 kills and three blocks.
