WARRENSBURG, Mo. (October 11, 2020) - With the suspension of fall sports, that means we are bringing back On This Day in UCM History: Fall Edition. We'll relive some UCM highlights from our fall sports. Today's On This Day in UCM History is presented by The UCM Store.

UCM outscored Washburn 17-0 in the fourth quarter to come out of Topeka with a 58-34 win over the Ichabods. The Mules got down 14-0 early before scoring three straight touchdowns for a 21-14 lead. Leading 27-21, Washburn tied the game with a touchdown just before the half and took a 34-27 lead to start the third. From there it was all Mules. They scored 31 straight to finish the game and improve to 7-0 on the season.
Quarterback Dennis Gile had a career day throwing for 380 yards and five touchdowns, the most in his career. He also rushed for a score giving him six total touchdowns in the win. Three of his touchdown passes went to Todd Devoe who caught nine passes for 154 yards.Â

1975: Mules Football improved to 4-0 under first year head coach Walt Hicklin with a 24-14 win over Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State).Â

1980: Jennies Volleyball needed to win sets four and five in a 3-2 match win over William Woods.Â

1985: Volleyball went 4-0 with wins over Drury, Nebraska-Kearney, Missouri Southern and Doane. Three of the four wins were 2-0 with a 2-1 win over Doane.Â

1986: At Southeast Missouri, UCM Football defeated the Redhawks 32-21. Jeff Wright totaled five tackles for loss.Â

1990: Jennies Volleyball swept Missouri Western 3-0 allowing just seven points. They shut them out in set three 15-0.Â

1997: Jennies Soccer shut out Benedictine on the road 2-0.Â
•
2001: UCM Soccer pulled out a 1-0 win over in-state rival Rockhurst.Â

2008: Jennies Soccer scored four first-half goals in a 5-1 win over Missouri Western. Melanie Hall scored the first three minutes into the game.Â

2013: Taylor Goodness hit 15 kills in a sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma. The Jennies also swept Arkansas Tech helped out by Carly Sojka's 12 kills.Â

2014: Mules Football shutout Washburn 44-0. The Ichabods totaled just 183 yards of offense and threw three interceptions. Hayden Hawk rushed for three scores on the ground and Will Mondragon scored 14 points in the kicking game with three field goals and five extra points.Â

2014: Annie Reilly landed a team-record tying eight service aces in a Jennies loss at Central Oklahoma.Â

2016: Mules golf was victorious at the Missouri Western Holiday Inn Express Classic. The Mules won by four strokes over Arkansas Tech and Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Mules had the lowest team score in rounds two and three. Alex Springer finished in third place with an even-par, 213. Cole Dillon tied for eighth.Â

2016: In their final event of the fall, Jennies Golf came in second at the Bearcat Fall Classic. Freshman Olivia Sobaski tied for fifth place with a +8, 152. Elizabeth Leath also finished in the top-10 in ninth.Â

2019: Makayla Toth scored two goals and assisted on another in Jennies Soccer's 3-0 win over Newman.Â

2019: Jennies Volleyball hit .488 committing just five attack errors in their sweep of Newman.Â
