EDMOND, Okla. (May 2, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Softball got off to a rough start and couldn't climb out of an early hole in their 11-4 loss to No. 1 Central Oklahoma. The loss is the Jennies first in the MIAA double-elimination tournament and puts them at 34-20 this season.
Play-by-Play
• Despite playing in Edmond, the Jennies were the home team in this contest. It took only one pitch for UCO claim the lead. A lead-off home run put the Bronchos up 1-0.
• The Bronchos then put the next three on to load the bases, forcing Jennies starter
Shelby Clark from the game.
Alexa Bradley entered and got three straight ground balls to hold it at a 1-0 game.
• Bradley wasn't as fortunate in the second inning though. The Bronchos again loaded the bases, putting the first three on base. A sacrifice fly made it 2-0 UCO before a fielding error reloaded the bases.
• The next three hitters all picked up RBI with a walk, ground out and a single as UCO claimed a 5-0 lead.
• The Jennies got a leadoff single from
Taylor Dames in the second, but a double play erased her and UCM went down 1-2-3.
• A two-out, two-run home run in the fourth put UCO up 7-0, and an RBI single in the fifth made it 8-0.
• The Jennies got their first three runs in the fifth.
Lauryn Deer's bases loaded fielder's choice scored the first. After a throwing error allowed a second run to score,
Ashlyn Cook drove in Deer with a single to center.
• The Jens cut the lead in half to 8-4 an inning later on
Kaitlyn Markin's sacrifice fly to score
Jessica Sader.
• The Bronchos drove in the final nail in the seventh. With the bases loaded and two outs, a walk brought in the first run while a two-RBI single brought us to our 11-4 final.
