EDMOND, Okla. (May 4, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Softball (34-21) time at the 2019 MIAA Championship came to an end Saturday afternoon with their second loss in the double-elimination tournament. The Jens fell 6-1 to Emporia State in a game that was originally scheduled for Friday, May 3rd.
Play-by-Play
• The Jennies fell behind quickly in this one. Three batters into the game, ESU had scored twice thanks to a two-run home run from Hannah Steeby.
• ESU added a solo home run an inning later, pushing their lead to 3-0.
• UCM got their run in the third. 
Ashlyn Cook's two-out double brought in 
Makenzie McAtee.
• The Hornets though again made it a three-run game answering in the home half of the inning. A throwing error by the catcher allowed a run to score on a stolen base attempt.
• Central Missouri had their best chance to get back into the game in the fifth. With two on and out out, Cook's line drive was hit to the second baseman who was able to double off the runner at first to end the inning and the threat.
• The Hornets got two more in the sixth with a two-out, two-RBI single to put the game away.

• 
Makenzie McAtee had two hits in three at bats with a run scored.
• 
Ashlyn Cook doubled and picked up an RBI.
• 
Lauryn Deer and 
Taylor Dames each had a hit in three at bats.
• 
Gentry Wishard started for UCM lasting 1.2 innings and allowing three runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
• 
Shelby Clark came on in relief to allow three runs (two earned) on three hits with a strikeout.
For the Hornets
• Montana Mesler went the distance giving up a run on five hits with eight strikeouts.
• Hannah Steeby was 3-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI.
• Destiny Ojigoh homered as well.
• Brittanie Shepherd had a hit and two RBI.

• The Jennies 34 wins this season are their most since 2015.
• 
Taylor Dames picked up career hit number 100.
• 
Lauryn Deer finished the year with 75 hits, tied for the third most in a single-season in UCM history.
• 
Jessica Sader knocked 69 hits, which is tied for sixth.
