PITTSBURG, Kan. (April 9, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Softball (23-13, 9-3 MIAA) kicked off their six-game road trip this week with a split against Pittsburg State. The Jennies fell in extra innings 6-5 in game one, before coming back with a big fifth inning and a 6-2 win.
Game 2 - Central Missouri 6, Pittsburg State 2
Play-by-Play
• Both teams had chances to score early.
Gentry Wishard worked out of a jam in the first stranding two runners. In the second,
Makenzie McAtee hit a one-out double, but was left standing on second base.
• Each team got on the board in the third. UCM started it as
Hailey Crabtree doubled to score
Lauryn Deer from first base.
• The Gorillas got right back into it with two in the bottom of the inning hitting back-to-back doubles down the right field line.
• The Jennies finally broke it open in the fifth.
Lauryn Deer walked to start the inning before
Ashlyn Cook singled to right. It was Crabtree again coming up with the big hit, this time hitting one over the fence for a three-run home run, putting UCM on top, 4-2.
• The inning continued and RBI doubles from
Taylor Dames and
Brie Murray pushed the Jennies lead to four, 6-2.
• Wishard threw three perfect innings to end the game with the Jennies up 6-2.
Jennies Stat Leaders

Hailey Crabtree finished 2-4 with a double, home run and four RBI.

Taylor Dames all collected two hits and scored a run.

Lauryn Deer scored twice with a hit and a walk.

• Kala Holder was 2-2 with a double and an RBI.

• Makenzie Goswick was 1-3 with double, RBI and a run scored.
• Halle Brin pitched the first four innings and allowed two runs on three hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Game Two - Pittsburg State 6, Central Missouri 5 - 9 innings
Play-by-Play
• After UCM left two on base in the first, Pittsburg State scored three runs on four hits in their first turn at bat.
• The Jennies started to chip away in the second.
Kaitlyn Markin hit a one-out solo home run to right.

Jessica Sader then singled in the third to score
Hailey Crabtree and cut the lead to one, 3-2.
• Crabtree then gave the Jennies the lead in the fifth.
Ashlyn Cook's one out single put a runner on for Crabtree who homered to center, putting the Jens on top, 4-3.
• The Gorillas answered right away though, with a two-run home run of their own in the bottom of the inning and reclaimed a 5-4 lead.
• The home run balls kept coming and
Makenzie McAtee tied the game in the sixth, starting the inning with a round tripper.
• Neither team could find a run in the seventh, as game one went to extras.
• The teams traded zeroes for a bit, until two outs, bottom of the ninth, the Gorillas ended it with a walk-off home run to center for a 6-5 win.

• Makenzie Goswick homered and was 3-5.
• Kaity Kukowski was 2-4 with a home run and four RBI.
• Dru Collins picked up two hits.
• Halle Brin started and went five innings allowing five runs on eight hits.
• Shelby Smith three four shutout innings in relief to earn the win.

Jordan Johnson's seven strikeouts are a new career-high.
• Game one going to extra innings was the third straight extra inning game for UCM. They are now 4-1 in extra innings this season.
• UCM picked up 10 hits in each game.
• Of the Jennies 20 hits, they hit five doubles and four home runs.
