Freshman Walks It Off on Senior Day

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 27, 2019) - On a day celebrating the six Central Missouri Jennies Softball seniors, it was a freshman who played the hero. Jessica Sader walked off game-two with an RBI single and a 3-2 win to earn a split with Lindenwood. The Jennies end the regular season at 33-19, 17-9 in the MIAA.

Game Two - Central Missouri 3, Lindenwood 2 - 8 innings
• Lindenwood scored a run in the first with the benefit of a hit. A leadoff walk came in to score on a sacrifice fly and it was 1-0 Lions.
• The score stayed that way until the fifth, though Jennies started Shelby Clark needed to work out of a few jams. In the third and fourth innings she stranded two runners on base.
• The Lions added a run in the fifth on a two-out RBI single.
• The Jennies bats finally came to life in the sixth. Ashlyn Cook's triple fell just inside the right field line. She scored two pitches later when Hailey Crabtree sent a double to left.
• Crabtree came in to score the tying run when Taylor Dames singled to right.
• Both teams had chances to score in the seventh. The Lions got the first two on, but Clark ended the innings with two strikeouts and a ground out.
• Markin started the home half of the inning reaching on fielding error and advanced to second when the ball went into left field. She was doubled off second though after a diving catch by the shortstop to eliminate the scoring threat.
• In extras, Lindenwood got a pair of runners in scoring position with two outs, but Clark struck out her sixth batter of the game to keep the game tied.
• The bottom of the inning started with a walk to Lauryn Deer. She moved to second on Ashlyn Cook's sacrifice bunt and got to third on Crabtree's fly ball to right.
• On a 1-0 pitch, Jessica Sader's hard ground ball was unable to hauled in by the second baseman as Deer trotted home with the game-winning run.
