Baseball Routs Tigers on Senior Day

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 27, 2019) - Central Missouri Mules Baseball had one of the best offensive outputs in program history Saturday afternoon. The Mules scored 27 on 27 hits with just six trips to the plate in their 27-1 win over Fort Hays State. The Mules move to 31-12 this season and 21-8 in the MIAA.

Play-by-Play
• The Mules got three in the first inning with Michael Sinks' two-run home run the biggest hit of the inning.
• Zak Whalin made it 4-0 in the second with a sacrifice fly to score Josh Schumacher.
• UCM busted it open in the third scoring 12 runs on 10 hits. They sent 16 men to bat before the inning ended.
• Erk Webb hit not one, but two home runs in the inning. He led off the frame with an inside-the-park homer to center, then came up later with two on for a three-run shot to left.
• Schumacher also went deep in the inning, scoring three on the blast. Michael Sinks and Alex Madera also had run-scoring hits.
• Mason Janvrin and Harrison Schnurbusch each homered in the fourth and Dalton Dull's RBI double gave UCM a 20-0 lead.
• RBI hits from Madera and John Prudhom in the fifth continued the scoring, putting UCM up 23-0.
• The Tigers got a run in the sixth on an RBI double, but the Mules ended the game scoring four more in the inning, going on to win 27-1.

Mules Stat Leaders
• Mason Green started and got the win pitching four innings and allowing just two hits while striking out 11.
• Mason Janvrin and Alex Madera each collected four hits. Janvrin scored four times and Madera drove in three.
• Erik Webb finished 3-4 with four RBI and two home runs.
• Josh Schumacher drove in five runs, going 3-3.
• Harrison Schnurbusch and Donovan Ditto each collected two hits.
• Cole Young pitched the final three innings allowing a run on two hits with six strikeouts. 

For the Tigers
• Marcus McDaniel had a hit and an RBI.
• Cody Starkel had a hit and scored a run.

News and Notes
• The Mules 27 hits match a single-game team-high also done in 1995.
• This is not the first time the Mules have scored 27 runs in a game in the Kyle Crookes era. They also did so in April of 2015, his first year at the helm.
• Thirteen different Mules recorded a hit and 12 scored a run.
• Mason Janvrin moved his on-base streak to 43 games while Erik Webb reached in his 42 straight.
• Josh Schumacher now has at least two hits in five straight games.
• Mason Green got 11 of his 12 outs via strikeout.
