Jennies Pick Up Split With Blue Tigers

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 26, 2019) - Central Missouri Jennies Softball (32-18, 16-8 MIAA) played their penultimate doubleheader of the regular season Friday afternoon. The Jennies pitchers allowed just four runs, but UCM couldn't get the offense going until game two of their split with Lincoln. 

Game Two - Central Missouri 10, Lincoln 2
Play-by-Play

• Central Missouri wasted no time in game jumping on the Blue Tigers.
• UCM loaded the bases in the first with two outs and Alexis Koop cleared them with a three-RBI double to right center.
• The Jennies put up another three-spot an inning later. Brie Murray brought in Kaitlyn Markin with an RBI single and Jessica Sader's two-RBI double plated Murray and Ashlyn Cook.
• An unearned run in the third gave the Jennies a 7-0 lead. Lauryn Deer's infield single scored Markin.
• Central Missouri led off the fourth with back-to-back doubles. Hailey Crabtree started it with a line drive to right center. Sader brought her in to give the Jens an 8-0 lead, doubling on an 0-2 pitch.
• The Jennies had a chance to end it in the top of the fifth, but Lincoln scored two to keep it going. A bases-loaded, two-out single brought in two unearned runs and made it an 8-2 game.
• Now needing two runs to finish the game, the Jennies put the first four on base. With the bases loaded, Aubrey Daniel's base hit up the middle scored Markin.
• Crabtree ended the game with a sacrifice fly as Amolee Hawkins beat the throw from center for the game ending run, 10-2.

Jennies Stat Leaders
Hailey Crabtree was 3-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Kaitlyn Markin scored three hits with two hits and a walk along with four stolen bases.
Jessica Sader and Alexis Koop each drove in three runs.
Brie Murray reached base three times with a hit and two walks. She also picked up an RBI and scored a run.
Gentry Wishard went the distance giving up two runs (zero earned) on five hits with a strikeout.

For the Blue Tigers
• Camryn Pryor was 2-3 with both RBI.
• Trista heavin scored a run. She also pitched all five innings, giving up 10 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits.
• Bekah Kirker scored a run.

Play-by-Play

• The first game was a classic pitcher's dual. Lincoln got runners on in each of the first two innings, but starter Alexa Bradley was able to work around the baserunners. 
• The Jennies didn't get their first hit until the third inning. Kaitlyn Markin hit a one-out single and stole a base, but was left at second base.
• UCM finally broke through in the fourth. Back-to-back two-out doubles from Jessica Sader and Taylor Dames put the Jens on top 1-0.
• Lincoln responded right away an inning later. A lead-off home run tied the game at one. They got another in the inning on an RBI single and took a 2-1 lead.
• The Jennies left runners base in both the fifth and sixth innings. With two outs, Makenzie Cooper pinch hit and doubled to left. She moved to third on Lauryn Deer's infield single, but both runners were stranded there.
Hailey Crabtree led off the sixth with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch. She took off on contact on a ground ball to third and was caught in a run down and eventually tagged out on the play.
• That was the best chance for UCM as Lincoln set the side down in order in the seventh to hang on for a 2-1 win.

Jennies Stat Leaders
Alexa Bradley started and pitched the first four innings allowing two runs on four hits.
Jordan Johnson threw three scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts.
Taylor Dames had a hit and an RBI along with a stolen base.
Jessica Sader doubled and scored.

For the Blue Tigers
• Jordan Lawson threw all seven innings allowing one run on six hits with a strikeouts to earn the win.
• Camryn Pryor and Rachael Balke each knocked two hits.
• Trista Heavin was 1-3 with a home run. 

News and Notes
• The Jennies scored in all five innings in game two.
Kaitlyn Markin's four stolen bases are a career-high and the most for a Jennie in a single game this season.
• Of the Jennies 11 RBI, five came with two outs.
• UCM hit .440 with runners on base.

• It's senior day tomorrow afternoon! The Jennies will host Lindenwood in their regular season finale Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m.
