NEW ORLEANS, LA ( April 17, 2019) - Mules Track and Field is making some noise this outdoor season. The Mules have climbed eight spots in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Associations rankings that were released Tuesday.

A week ago, the Mules were ranked 18th with 68.99-points. After another busy weekend of action on the track, the Mules are now No. 10 with 94.75 points. 

UCM now has seven athletes ranked in the top-10 in six events. Jan Jansky is leading the team after a big personal best last week and is ranked second in the pole vault. Nathan Liby is next on the team ranked third in the hammer throw. In the long jump, Christopher Goodwin sits seventh and Jesse Miller is currently 10th. Dalton Lewallen's is currently sitting eighth in the shot put. Nathan Cummings is ranked eighth in the discus throw. The final Mule in the top-10 is Trey Miller, who is ranked 10th in the decathlon.

Angelo State is sitting at No. 1 with 183.16, Grand Valley State is currently No. 2 with 161.56 points, West Texas A&M is in the No. 3 spot with 144.49. Colorado School of Mikes sits at No. 4 (141.88) and Texas A&M Kingsville rounds out the top five with 130.41.

The team is back on the track this weekend as they host the Mule Relays at Walton Stadium/ Kennedy Field Friday, April 19. UCM will also send several athletes to compete in Lawrence, Kan. at the Kansas Relays April 18-20.
