TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (April 12, 2019) - It took 10 innings, but Central Missouri Softball got a win in Oklahoma, taking down Northeastern State 8-7 in game two. The Jennies managed a split of the doubleheader and move to 24-16 this season, 10-6 in the MIAA.
Game 2 - Central Missouri 8, Northeastern State 7 - 10 innings
Play-by-Play
• It wasn't a great start for UCM who gave up a two-out three-run home run in the first inning to get behind early, 3-0.
• The comeback started immediately though as
Jessica Sader led off the second with a long ball to center.
• UCM tied the game in the fourth with RBI singles from
Alexis Koop and
Lauryn Deer as
Kaitlyn Markin and Koop crossed the plate.
• Northeastern State took the lead right back a half inning later, which was the start of a trend. A pair of singles along with a sac bunt plated the go-ahead run and it was 4-3 RiverHawks.
• With two outs and one on, the Jennies got three straight RBI hits. Markin singled, Koop doubled and
Brie Murray singled putting the Jennies up 6-4.
• Once again the RiverHawks had an answer a half inning later. The first two batters reached base and two runs scored without the ball leaving the infield, tying the game at six.
• Each team left runners on in each inning. In extras, UCM struck first with a two-out RBI single from
Lauryn Deer to score Markin.
• For the third time, the RiverHawks responded with a run of their own. A one-out solo home run to tie the game at seven.
• We played on into the 10th where
Hailey Crabtree singled and stole second. Standing at third with two outs,
Taylor Dames' infield single scored Crabtree, putting UCM on top 8-7.
• The RiverHawks got the tying run into scoring position in the bottom of the inning, but a pop up to Markin put the game away for an 8-7 win.
Jennies Stat Leaders

Alexis Koop was 4-5 with two runs and two RBI.
•
Lauryn Deer had a pair of hits and runs driven in.
•
Kaitlyn Markin scored three times and was 3-6 with a stolen base.
•
Jessica Sader went 2-4 with a home run.
•
Hailey Crabtree scored the game-winning run and was 2-6 with w stolen base.
•
Shelby Clark got the win out of the bullpen throwing five innings and allowing one run on two hits.
•
Gentry Wishard threw the first five, giving up six runs (four earned) on eight hits with three walks.
For the RiverHawks
• Hailey Acrey was 2-4 with a home run and three RBI. She also walked twice.
• Kyla Ibarra reached base all five times with two hits and three walks. She scored and drove in a run as well.
• Jess Schuler finished 2-6 with a double and a run.
• Sydney Balderrama started throwing five innings allowing six runs (two earned) on nine hits.
• Gail Young threw the final five and gave up two runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Game One - Northeastern State 6, Central Missouri 1
Play-by-Play
• Northeastern State did most of their damage early on. A leadoff double and an error put runners on the corners with nobody out. A one-out double started the scoring. That was followed by a three-run home run as the RiverHawks opened up a 4-0 lead.
• NSU added two more in the fourth. Back-to-back RBI hits put Northeastern State up 6-0.
• The Jennies only run came in the fifth.
Makenzie McAtee reached base on an error and moved up to second. With two outs, Alexis Crabtree knocked a base hit to left to score McAtee.
