Game Two - Central Missouri 18, Emporia State 1
Play-by-Play
• The Mules had so much fun in game one scoring nine runs, they decided to double it for game two.
• Central Missouri wasted no time scoring four runs in the first inning. With the bases full and one out,
John Raybourn punched one over the infield and just inside the right field line to score two with a double.
• One batter later,
Cole Taylor found room through the right side of the infield for a two-run single to score Raybourn and
Harrison Schnurbusch.
• Before even taking the mound,
Brady Gavin was staked to a 4-0 lead. And he was lights out for the Mules as the Hornets didn't collect a hit until the fifth inning.
• Central Missouri padded their lead in the middle innings.
Erik Webb doubled and Schnurbusch's single brought him in. UCM then scored two runs on ground balls, holding a 7-0 lead after three innings.
• After Webb's RBI single in the fourth, he came around to score on a throwing error as Raybourn stole second. All this happened with
Cole Taylor at the plate who drove one just high enough over the wall in right field for a two-run blast, giving UCM an 11-0 lead.
• The fifth is when UCM really poured it on, scoring seven runs on four hits and taking advantage of three Hornet errors. In total UCM sent 11 batters to the plate that inning. The Mules had already scored four runs in the inning when
Zak Whalin's fly ball traveled deep to right. The right fielder saw the ball into and out of his glove as the ball fell to the dirt allowing all three runners on base to score.
