Mules and Jennies Track Off to Great 2019 After UCM Invitational

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Jan. 18, 2019) – Central Missouri track and field men's and women's teams hosted their first indoor meet of the season earlier today.

Jumps
Jan Jansky took first place, provisionally qualified, and set a new personal best in the pole vault. He vaulted a personal best 16-9.5, which also makes him tied for seventh best in Mules history. Cassie Jennings was the top finisher for the Jennies, with a jump of 11-09.75 for second place. Maddi Wulfekotter also jumped 11-9.75 but finished third due to the number of attempts. Callie Ruffener was the final Jennie finishing fourth with a vault of 11-03.75.


Sophomore Audrey Fisher was the only Jennie to compete in the triple jump. She came in first with a leap of 37-03.00. Lauren Nelson took seventh in the long jump, with a mark of 15-10.50.

Christopher Goodwin was the top finisher for the Mules in the triple jump, hitting the 44-06.00 mark and coming in fourth.

The Mules dominated the long jump and took second through sixth places. Christopher Goodwin provisionally qualified with his second place jump of 24-00.25. His personal best jump landed him as tied for fifth on UCM's all-time list. Brad Jenkins placed third, after jumping 23-07.25. Trey Miller (22-09.00), Brent Alumbaugh (22-05.00), and Jeremi Barnes (22-03.50) placed fourth through sixth. 

In the high jump, Haley Lindenbush jumped 5-06.00 to land in first place and a provisional qualifying mark.  Garrett Francis placed second in his first meet as a Mule with a personal best jump of 6-05.00. Freshman Cade Conley came in third with a jump of 6-03.25.

Throws
Ashlan Burton was the Jens top finisher in the shot put.  She finished first with a personal-best 48-01.75. Alisha Straws took second with a throw of 40-11.00. The Jennies placed third, fourth, and sixth in the weight throw. Ashlan Burton was the top finisher with a toss of 51-00.25 to finish in third place. Rachel Schultz finished fourth in her first collegiate meet (45-10.00), and Alisha Straws came in sixth (44-06.25).

The Mules took the top three spots in the weight throw. Nathan Liby finished first with a toss of 62-00.50 and Nathan Cummings took second with a throw of 57-02.65. John Berry came in third with a toss of 56-03. In the shot put the Mules top finisher was Dalton Lewallen who placed first with a throw of 58-04.50. Nathan Cummings took third (54-06.75) and John Berry fourth (50-07.50).

Sprints/Hurdles/Relays
In the women's 60 meter dash, Destiney Nash ran a 7.84 and finished in fifth place while Kacey Kohlhof
 finished sixth with a time of 7.86. For the men, Zion Perry, Blake Johnson, and Kyzer Ramey all finished in the top-six. Perry's third-place finish of 6.88 provisionally qualifies him for nationals. Johnson's 7.04 placed him fourth, and Ramey's 7.05 placed him fifth. 

In the 60m hurdles, Chris Donald was the top finisher placing first with a time of 8.15. He ran 8.07 in the preliminaries to provisionally qualify for nationals. 

Freshman Taylor Larson was a top-finisher for UCM  in the 400m-dash in her first meet as a Jennie. She placed first with a time of 1:02.94. The Mules came out strong taking third through fifth. Jacob Weber was the top-finisher placing third with a time of 50.87. Matt Scaletty finished fourth (50.94) and Elliott Anderson rounded out the top five placing fifth (52.87). 

Sophomore Destiney Nash ran the 200m dash in 25.99 to place third for the Jennies. Kacey Kohlhof finished sixth in 26.61. Zion Perry was the top-finisher for the Mules with a time of 22.85 to place second. Kyzer Ramey finished third in 23.22.

The 600-yard run had several UCM runners finish in the top-five. The Jennies Katie Bean took third (1:31.27) and Alex Foote' came in fourth (1:31.93). For the Mules, Daylen Foster's personal-best time of 1:13.86 landed him in second, while Brett Kibler ran 1:18.12 to place sixth.

The Jennies finished first in the 4x400m relay.  Alex Foote', Mariah Elmore, Emily Thole, and Destiney Nash were all on the winning team that finished in 4:05.33. Matt ScalettyJacob Weber, Noah Larsen and Akeemo Minott helped the Mules place first as they crossed the line at 3:24.85.


Distance
Emily Thole led the Jennies in the 800mcrossing the line in 2:26.04. Mules sophomores Tanner Skotnicki (1:58.60) and Derek Nugent (1:58.91) were top-finishers in the 800m run placing fourth and fifth, respectively.

Cynthia Togom was the top finisher for the Jennies, she took third for UCM in the 3000m run. She ran a 10:31.69, in her first meet as a Jennie. For the Mules, Ryan Skopec was the top-finisher placing eighth with a time of 9:08.89. 

UCM had three top finishers in the mile. Mariah Elmore led the way finishing third, with a time of 5:30.17, Senior Maria Wendell finished fifth with a time of. 5:51.22 and Karynn Carroll (5:53.89) finished sixth. For the Mules, Noah Larsen was the top finisher placing first with a time of 4:25.10.

Central Missouri's next meet is the Pittsburg State Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 26 in Pittsburg, Kan.
