TOPEKA, Kan. (April 12, 2018) - Central Missouri split a pair of pitcher's duals with Washburn this afternoon in Topeka. After registering only three hits and falling 4-0 in game one, the Jennies came-from behind for an extra-inning win in game two. The split puts UCM at 25-17 this season and 14-4 in the MIAA.
Game One - Washburn 4, Central Missouri 0
Play-by-Play
• Washburn scored twice in the opening inning and made those two runs stand up. The first run scored after a single and a throwing error. Brianna Francis then doubled home the game's second run on a 1-2 pitch.
• The Jennies had a few chances to score, but for the most part Ichabod starter Megan Deiter kept the Jennies at bay. UCM got two on in the first inning after
Payton Summers was hit by a pitch, but nothing came of it. UCM left two more on in the fifth. With two outs,
Kaitlyn Markin singled and stole second.
Lauryn Deer singled to third moving Markin up. She made it to second on a passed ball, but the inning came to a close on a pop out.
• Washburn took advantage by scoring two more in the bottom half of the fifth. They were helped out by two Jennies errors, scoring once on a fielding error and another on Francis' second RBI double of the game.
• UCM got a runner on base in both the sixth and seventh, but couldn't get a run across and the Ichabods took game one, 4-0.

Game Two - Central Missouri 2, Washburn 1
Play-by-Play
• It was a classic pitcher's dual in game two. Washburn got on the board first with a run in the second, but it could have been a whole lot more. The Ichabods had the bases loaded and one out.
Shelby Clark walked in a runner, but settled down and got a pop up and a ground out to keep it from being a bigger inning.
• After 10 innings, Central Missouri finally scored their first run of the afternoon.
Taylor Dames doubled to lead off the fourth and moved to third on
Courtni Smith's fly ball.
Payton Summers tied the game with an RBI groundout.
Emily King threatened to put UCM ahead two batters later, but her sharp line drive was snagged by the shortstop who turned it into an inning-ending double play.
• Jennies pitcher
Sarah Brown and Washburn starter Kelsee Henry continued to put up zeroes after that.
• Neither team could score in regulation, so for the second time in three games, the Jens went into extra innings. At heart of the Jennies rally once again was
Taylor Dames. With two outs, she punched a single up the middle and stole second on the very first pitch. Down in the count 1-2, Smith ripped a single of her own up the middle to score Dames and give the Jennies their first lead.
• Brown worked around a one-out single in the eighth to preserve the win.
