Crabtree, Dishinger Knock 100th Career Hits at Emporia

EMPORIA, Kan. (April 13, 2018) - Central Missouri Jennies softball had a rough week in Kansas. After splitting with league leading Washburn, the Jennies dropped a doubleheader to Emporia State. UCM is now 25-19 and 14-6 in the MIAA this season.

Game One - Emporia State 2, Central Missouri 1
Play-by-Play

• Not much scoring in game one. With two outs and two on, Katy Rae Nordman broke a scoreless tie in the second with a double that snuck inside the right field line. 
• An inning later, the Jennies got one of the runs back when Lauryn Deer doubled down the left field line, scoring Alexis Koop. Trying to score from first though was Allie Dishinger and the Jennies catcher was thrown out at the plate, preserving the one-run lead for the Hornets.
• A lightning delay held up the game and neither team added to their run total after that.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Three Jennies recorded hits in the game - Lauryn Deer, Courtni Smith and Allie Dishinger. Deer drove in UCM's only run.
Alexis Koop scored for the Jens.
Alexa Bradley got the start and threw five innings allowing two runs, both unearned, giving up six hits with a walk and a strikeout.
Katie Giacone pitched the sixth and left two runners on base.

For the Hornets
• Kelsey Phillips threw all seven innings to get the win in the circle. She allowed one unearned run on three hits with two strikeouts.
• Danielle Sprinkle and Annelise Rockley each went 2-3. 
• Kate Rae Nordman was 1-3 with a double and two RBI. 

Game Two - Emporia State 4, Central Missouri 2
Play-by-Play

• The Jennies got things started in the second inning as Emily King drove in Hailey Crabtree with a double to right. She came around and scored herself on a single to left from Allie Dishinger.
• Emporia State then scored four straight starting in the third. The Hornets executed a double-steal and Kenzie Garvin came across to make it a one-run game.
• An inning later, the Hornets took the lead. Katy Rae Nordman pinch hit and knocked a game-tying double to left. Cassidy Beem then put ESU ahead with a sacrifice fly.
• Central Missouri got the tying run to second in the fifth with one out but couldn't score. A half inning later, ESU doubled their lead as Danielle Sprinkle hit a solo home run to left.
•The Jennies went down in order in the sixth and seventh as ESU held on for the win.

Jennies Stat Leaders
Allie Dishinger collected two hits and went 2-3 with an RBI.
Hailey Crabtree doubled and scored a run.
Emily King drove in a run with a double and Makayla Schoonover scored as a pinch runner.
Sarah Brown started and gave up three runs in three innings. Katie Giacone pitched the final three innings and allowed a run on three hits.

For the Hornets
• McKenna Davis was 2-3 with a run scored.
• Katy Rae Nordman wasn't retired going 3-3 with a double and an RBI.
• Montana Mesler got the win pitching all seven innings. She gave up two runs, one earned on five hits.

News and Notes
Allie Dishinger and Hailey Crabtree each recorded their 100th hit in the double header. Dishinger with a single in game one and Crabtree a double in game two. 
• Dishinger hit another century mark. Her start in game one was the 100th straight start for her behind the plate. 
• Game one was delayed for about an hour because of lightning. 
• There was not a single strikeout for either team in game two.
• This is the first time the Jennies have been swept in an MIAA doubleheader this season. 

Up Next
• The Jennies will finally get their senior day Tuesday, April 17. UCM will take on Central Oklahoma in their final home game of the season with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
