Jennies Basketball Continue Road Trip in State's Capitol

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Feb. 15, 2018) - There's just two weeks left of the MIAA regular season. Central Missouri will be on the road for the next two games as they start their march towards the postseason.

Opponents: Lincoln Blue Tigers (3-21, 0-16 MIAA)
                    Lindenwood Lions (14-11, 6-10 MIAA)

Tip Off
• Central Missouri Jennies Basketball completes a three game road trip going to Lincoln and Lindenwood this week.
• Central Missouri lost its first league game last week and are 20-2 and 14-1 in the MIAA.
• The Jennies are ranked ninth by both the WBCA and D2SIDA polls, their fifth straight week in the top-10. They are also second in the first NCAA Regional Rankings. 
• The Jennies faced both Lindenwood and Lincoln at home already this season, winning both games. The Jennies defeated the Blue Tigers 71-53 and scored 80 against the Lions in an 80-73 win. Central Missouri is a combined 67-6 all-time against these two teams, 54 of those wins coming against Lincoln. 

Quick Hits
Last Time Out
Central Missouri suffered their first MIAA loss of the season, 68-63 at the hands of Pittsburg State. The Gorillas overcame a nine-point second-half defecit, outscoring the Jennies 24-16 in the fourth quarter. The Jens turned right back around to defeat Missouri Southern, 80-63. Paige Redmond scored in double-figures of both games and Kayonna Lee tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 rebounds against Missouri Southern. 

Previously vs. Lincoln/Lindenwood
Only need to go back one month for the last time the Jennies met Lincoln and Lindenwood. The two teams came to Warrensburg in January, each suffering a loss. The Jennies outscored the Blue Tigers 21-6 in the fourth quarter, to run away with a 71-53 victory. Four Jennies reached double-figures led by Megan Skaggs with 20. Paige Redmond scored 27 points and Central Missouri came back from a first-half defecit to defeat the Lions 80-73. 

Jennies in the Rankings
Central Missouri is still in the top-10 of both the WBCA and D2SIDA polls, despite falling five places in each. The Jennies are ranked ninth in both polls. This was also the first week of NCAA Division II Regional rankings. The Jennies rank second in the Central. The Central Region consists of teams from the MIAA, Northern Sun and Great American Conferences. The top-eight teams will make up the field for the NCAA Regional Championship, March 9-12. 

Road Warriors
The Jennies haven't seemed to mind going into unfriendly environments. UCM is 8-0 away from Warrensburg this season and 6-0 in true road games. The Jennies have actually seen an uptick in their scoring as well on road, averaging 77.3 points per game. 

The MIAA Universe
• Central Missouri continues to lead the MIAA standings at 14-1. Six teams have 10 or more wins on the season. Following UCM is Pittsburg State at 12-3 and Nebraska-Kearney at 11-4. Central Oklahoma, Fort Hays State and Emporia State are all 10-5. 
• The Jennies have been sharing the ball around, averaging 14.7 assists per game, second-most in the MIAA. UCM is the only team with two in the top-10 in assists per game. Paige Redmond overtook the team lead with 79 helpers, and her 3.6 assists per game are fourth in the MIAA. Kelsey Williams is right behind her with 78 assists. She averages 3.5 per game, fifth in the MIAA. Williams' 2-1 assist-to-turnover ratio is second in the MIAA, while Redmond is third at 1.7-1. As a team, the Jennies assists to turnover ratio of 1.28-1 is the best in the MIAA and the 13th best mark in the NCAA. 
• As a team, the Jennies are in the top-five in field goal (46.6%), three-point (33.5%) and free throw (76.5%) percentages. 

Individual Milestones 
• Paige Redmond joined the 1,000 point club last week, scoring the milestone bucket against Pittsburg State. She is currently at 1,038 points and tied for 25th all-time. She needs 27 more points to move up to 24th and 99 points to crack the top 20. Redmond is also climbing the all-time 3FGM list. She has 118 for her career which is ninth all-time and 10 shy from eighth place. 
• In back-to-back weeks, Megan Skaggs recorded career point No. 500 and grabbed rebound No. 200.
• Three more Jennies are poised to reach 500 career points in the near future. Sydney Crockett is 21 points away, Kayonna Lee is 37 points shy and Morgan Fleming needs to score 58 more. 
• Peyton Taylor scored her 100th career point against Missouri Southern. 

Perfect 10
Through 22 games this season, Central Missouri has held opponents to fewer than 10 points in a quarter in 13 of those games. The Jennies are 13-0 in those games, and are yet to be held to fewer than 10 points themselves this season. Going back to last season, Central Missouri is 28-1 in games where an opponent has scored fewer than 10 points and 4-3 in games in which they failed to reach 10 points in a quarter. In 54.7% of UCM's games the last two years, the Jennies have held an opponent to under 10 points in at least one quarter.

Ball Security
No team in Division II is better at holding on to the ball than Central Missouri. The Jennies lead the NCAA in fewest turnovers per game at 11.5. They are also second in fewest turnovers with 252, behind only Chaminade's 246 who have played five fewer games. 

Fast Starts
Central Missouri likes to jump out early and have done so, scoring 432 first period points, their most in any period. They also have allowed just 315 points in the first quarter, their second-fewest. On average, after 10 minutes UCM leads 19.6-14.3 and at the half, 35.5-27.0.

Scouting the Opposition
Lincoln Blue Tigers

• Lincoln is the only winless team in the MIAA. The Blue Tigers are 3-21 overall and have lost all 16 league games and 17 straight overall. 
• The Blue Tigers have the worst offense in the MIAA, scoring 57.2 points per game, which is 285th out of 301 teams in Division II. They are being outscored by 13.6 points, second-worst in the MIAA, as opponents are scoring 70.5 points per game. 
• Lincoln is also the worst shooting team in the MIAA, making just 34.7% of their field goal attempts. Behind the arc they shoot 27.8% and at the free throw line 68.6%. All three percentages are in the bottom three in the MIAA. They have made just 212 free throws which is 292nd out of 301 teams in Division II. 
• Senior guard Citali Lopez is the only Blue Tiger to be scoring more than 10 points per game. She scores 10.3, doing most of her damage from three point land. Of her 87 made field goals, 47 are three-pointers. She is shooting 34% from the floor and 32.6% from three. 
• Bre Coleman has cracked the MIAA top-10 in rebounds per game with her 7.8. She leads the Blue Tigers with 186 total and 64 offensive rebounds. Lopez has also helped out on the boards, securing 3.5 rebounds per game. 
• At 17.7 turnovers per game, the Blue Tigers are last in the MIAA. They are in the middle of the pack in opponent turnovers, forcing 16.5 per game, which is fourth. 
• Lopez is also the team leader in assists with 61 and steals with 40. The Blue Tigers 7.7 steals per game rank seventh in the MIAA.

Lindenwood Lions
• Lindenwood has been one of the streakiest teams in the MIAA. They currently are on a four-game winning streak to move to 6-10 in the MIAA and 14-11 overall. Before this recent winning streak, they had lost six straight and started out the season by winning their first seven games. 
• The Lions deploy one of the best players in the MIAA in Kallie Bildner. She is the only player league to average a double-double scoring 18.9 points and grabbing 12.1 rebounds per game, both are in the top-three in the MIAA. 
• Thanks in part to Bildner, the Lions have the second-best scoring offense in the MIAA with 78.3 points per game, which is 21st in Division II. Gabby Walker is also scoring in double-digits w/ 13.3 points/game. 
• The only team in the league better than the Lions at shooting the ball is Central Missouri. Lindenwood connects on 46.3% of their field goal attempts. Bildner is shooting 57.8% from the floor and is 23-57 (40.4%) from three. Walker is right behind her shooting 55.4%. As a team, the Lions connect on 32.4% of their three point attempts and 71.6% of their free throws. 
• At 42.5 rebounds per game, the Lions lead the MIAA. Behind Bildner, Walker grabs 6.6 rebounds/game.
• Lindsay Medlen has helped the Lions scoring 9.3 points and passing out 80 assists. 
• Lindenwood has struggled holding on to the ball. They average 17.6 turnovers per game which is the second worst mark in the MIAA. However, they force an average of 17.8 turnovers per game which is best in the league. Of the 17.8 opponent turnvovers, 9.2 come from Lion steals, second in the league.
