CRETE, Neb. (Dec. 1, 2018) - Day one of the UCM Track and Field season got underway Saturday at the Doane University Happy Holiday's Multi Meet in Crete, Neb.
The Jennies had two women compete in the pentathlon.
Lauren Nelson took fourth place with 3127 points and
Cassidy Harris was seventh with 3012 points. Nelson recorded a personal-best in overall pentathlon score. She scored the most points in the 60m hurdles running 9.57 which was just .03 seconds shy of her personal-best and netted her 794 points. She also cleared 5-1.75 in the high jump for a personal-best and 701 points.
Harris hit a pair of personal-bests to get to her score. She matched a PR in the high jump with a mark of 5-4.25 and set a new collegiate best in the shot put throwing 33-7.5.Â
The men also got started today with the first four events of the heptathlon. Freshman
Trey Miller sits in second place with 2992 points. He reached two NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the two jumping events. He cleared 6-8.25 in the high jump and leaped 23.7.25 in the long jump.
Redshirt freshmen
Garrett Francis and
Trent Davis are in fourth and fifth place with 2625 points and 2536 points, respectively. Francis also had a good day in the long jump with a mark of 21-7.5. Davis ran 7.38 for the 60m dash.
Calaway Scholes is in sixth place with 2426 points. He recorded personal-bests in the 60m dash running 7.58 and the shot put, throwing 36-7, which was second in the event.
Day two of the heptathlon will begin tomorrow with the 60m hurdles.
