Ichabods Halt Jennies Win Streak at Six

TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 29, 2017) – Central Missouri lost their six match winning streak at the hands of Washburn 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25, 8-15). The loss is the Jennies first conference loss of the season and puts them at 3-1 in the MIAA and 12-4 overall.

How it Happened
• Central Missouri took a two sets to one lead, but the Ichabods came back in set four to tie and won in the fifth set.
• The Ichabods hit .329 for the match, compared to the Jennies .243.
• Washburn also finished with more digs and blocks on the defensive end with 82 and seven, respectively.
• Central Missouri committed 20 attack errors and three service errors.
• Washburn stormed out to an early lead forcing a UCM timeout at 5-1. After the Ichabods took their largest lead, 12-5, the Jens started to make their comeback. UCM tied it up at 18, then after Washburn went back up by three, 21-18, the Jennies scored four straight to take their first lead at 22-21. Aubree Bell completed the comeback with a kill to end it. Hannah VanBuskirk had nine kills in the frame.
• The Ichabods again got off to an early lead, 8-4, but this time were able to withstand UCM's comeback attempt. The Jennies got to within two late, 17-15, but WU scored five of the last six points to win 25-19.
• This time it was the Jennies who got off to a hot start. Helped out by five straight Washburn errors, the Jens went up 8-3 and never lost the lead. Washburn fought back to get to within one, 16-15, but UCM ended the set on a 9-3 run, going on to win 25-18.
• A back-and-forth set four went the Ichabods way after a late comeback. The Jennies were up two, 23-21, but Washburn scored the final four points with two kills and two Jennies errors, evening up the match.
• The teams traded points in set five before four-straight UCM points put them up three, 6-3. That lead didn't last long though as Washburn scored seven straight, took a 10-6 lead, and went on to a 15-8 win to steal the match.

Jennies Stat Leaders
• Four Jennies had 10+ kills with Hannah VanBuskirk's 22 leading the way.
Kasey Hohlen picked up 14, Audrey Fisher 13 and Aubree Bell 11.
Ally Offerdahl handed out 55 assists.
• Three Jennies also had double-digit digs. Kylie Hohlen's 19 were a team best.
• Bell picked up her third double-double with her 11 kills and 13 digs.
Carly Offerdahl dug out 12 Washburn attacks.
Molly Lawrence and Fisher each had three total blocks.

For the Ichabods
• Five Ichabods had double-digit kills led by Genna Berg's 15. Erica Montgomery and Makayla Maxwell had 14, Allison Maxwell 13 and Taylor Selk 11.
• Allison Sadler picked up a game-high 60 assists.
• Faith Rottinghaus had a game-high 21 digs.
• A. Maxwell also had a game-high six blocks.

News and Notes
• VanBuskirk's 22 kills and Offerdahl's 55 assists are both career-highs.
• VanBuskirk's nine kills in a set are the most for UCM this season.
Kasey Hohlen went over 600 career kills.
• Bell's three kills-digs double-doubles are the most for the Jens this season.
