EMPORIA, Kan. (Sept. 30, 2017) - Central Missouri got back to their winning ways with a sweep of Emporia State Saturday afternoon in Emporia, Kan. After a tough five-set loss to Washburn Friday night, the Jennies turned it right around with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-19) win over the Hornets to improve th 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the MIAA.
How it Happened
• The Hornets scored the first point of the match, but UCM followed that up with five straight to take an early 5-1 lead they never gave back. ESU got to within one at 11-10, but the Jens ended the set on a 14-5 run to take an early 1-0 lead in the match. The Jens hit .341 for the set and
Aubree Bell knocked five kills. UCM also added four blocks in the set.
• Bell did one better in set two with six kills, as the Jens again pulled away in the middle of the frame. Emporia State tied things at nine with a kill from Yuchen Du, but never took the lead as UCM went on a 8-1 run to take control. The Hornets couldn't get out of that hole and UCM went up 2-0 with a 25-18 win.
• This time it was the Hornets who took an early 5-1 lead, but that didn't last long as UCM was able to rattle off seven straight points, helped out by five ESU errors and took a 13-8 that they never lost.
Audrey Fisher ended the match with a kill. The Jennies got eight points off of errors in the set.
Jennies Stat Leaders
•
Ally Offerdahl was all over the court picking up her fifth double-double of the season with 34 assists and 12 digs.Â
• Bell landed a game-best 12 kills. Fisher was also in double-figures with 10 and had three blocks.

Kasey Hohlen scored 11.5 points getting nine kills and a game-high-tying four blocks, including one solo.Â

Kylie Hohlen dug out a game-best 23 Hornet attacks.
•
Kylie Hohlen and Offerdahl both had two of the Jennies six service aces. Bell and
Carly Offerdahl had the other two.
•
Molly Lawrence had five kills and two blocks.
For the Hornets
• Du filled out the stat sheet with a team-high nine kills, and 13 assists. She also had four digs and four blocks.
• Allie Maloney did work on the defensive end with a team-best 17 digs. Julia Joseph picked up 10.
• Tatum Graves knocked down seven kills and three blocks, along with a service ace.
• Emma Dixon matched Du with 13 assists.
News and Notes
• Central Missouri hit .250 for the match and held the Hornets to a .135 attack percentage.
• The Jennies did not commit an attack error in the first set while landing 15 kills.
• ESU landed only 32 kills in the match.
• Central Missouri out-blocked Hornets 7-6. They also had more digs, 58-55.
