Jennies Soccer Set for NCAA Postseason Action

Opening Kick
• Jennies Soccer enters the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament as the only undefeated team without a tie at 21-0-0. The Jennies are coming off their fourth straight MIAA Tournament Title and fifth overall. In the MIAA Championship, Central Missouri matched up against the Missouri Western Griffons for the third time this year. The Jennies walked away with the win yet again by a score of 4-1.
• UCM enters the NCAA postseason as the No. 1 seed not only in the Central Region but in the country. In the latest United Coaches Poll the Jennies were ranked No. 1 for the fifth consecutive week, which is a program record.
• The Jennies will host one half of the Central Region as the No. 1 seed and will receive a bye from the first round. UCM will play the winner of No. 4 seeded Augustana and No.5 seeded Bemidji State. The two teams square off on Friday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. with the winner playing the Jennies on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m. Both games will be played at Jennies Field.

Series History
Augustana: UCM leads 4-0-0
UCM is undefeated against Augustana and has allowed just one goal in the series. The Jennies went to Augustana and  handed the Vikings a 5-0 loss in their raod opener earlier this season.

Bemidji State: Never Met
If the Beavers defeat the Vikings advance to the NCAA Central Region Semifinals on Sunday, it will be the first all-time meeting between them and the Jennies.

Scouting the Competition
Augustana
• Augustana is making its third NCAA Tournament appearance in four years and it is the fourth apperance all-time. The Vikings have a 14-3-4 overall record entering the postseason.
• The Vikings have a 1-3 mark in the NCAA Tournament with their lone win coming against Harding which they earned in 2015. They made another run in the NSIC Tournament making the conference championship for the third straight year, falling to Minnesota State 2-0.
• The Vikings bring a veteran presence to the NCAA postseason as they have 21 players on the team that have seen action in 20 or more games in their careers at Augustana.
• Seniors Samantha Tymkowicz leads the offense for the Vikings with 22 points on nine goals scored and four assists. Her nine goals tied for third most in the NSIC, while her 22 points are tied for fifth.
• Defensively, Augustana set a school record for consecutive shutouts with eight this season, and posted 13 overall, also a school record. In net, Tyalor Mahacek is 14-3-4 with 98 saves and has allowed 16 goals.

Bemidji State
• The Beavers are making their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament. They enter the postseason at 15-1-3. They enter the NCAA postseason receiving votes. 
• Bemidji State did have an undefeated record entering the NSIC Tournament and were handed their first loss of the by the Augustana Vikings in the conference semifinals 1-0.
• In what many consider the best year in program history, the added to their accolades sweeping the individual awards in the NSIC. Rachael Norton, Miranda Famestad, Catherine Arneson and Allyson Smith were name dteh Offensive Player, Defensive Player, Goalkeeper, and Freshman of the Year, respectively. In addition Jim Stone was named the NSIC Coach of the Year.
• Offensively, the point of attack for the Beavers runs through Rachael Norton. She leads the team in points, goals and assists. She has 38 points on 14 goals and 10 assists. The Beavers do have five athletes in double-figure points. 
• Defensively, the Beavers have allowed just 10 goals this season with a .507 goals against average which is ranked 10th in Division II. In net, Arneson 8-1-2 for BSU with six shutouts, 56 saves, and seven goals allowed.

The Best Offense is a Good Defense
• The Jennies 76 goals scored this season ranks them in the top five in Division II in total goals at third.
• The Jennies are averaging 3.62 goals per game this season which ranks third in Division II in scoring offense.
• UCM's 39 assists this season are the most in the MIAA and is tied for 16th most in Division II.
• With 191 points total on 76 goals scored and 39 assists, the Jennies are third in Division II in total points.
• In 21 games this season, UCM outscored opponents 76-3 with a 449-158 shots advantage.

Numbers Never Lie
• The Jennies posted 18 shutouts in 21 of their wins this season and their three goals allowed is the least allowed in Division II this season.
• The Jennies all-around defense in shutouts (18), shutout percentage (.857), goals-against average (.143), and save percentage (.957) leads all of Division II this season.
• The Jennies are only team in Division II that has allowed just three goals this season. The Jennies three goals allowed is least allowed in the MIAA. The next closest team is Missouri Western with 15 goals allowed.

One for the Record Books
• The 2017 squad is the first team in program history and MIAA history to post 12 consecutive shutouts. 
• UCM was just the fourth team in NCAA Division II history to post 12 consecutive shutouts
• Dating back to the 2015 season, UCM has scored a goal in 54 straight games which is an MIAA record.
Ana Dilkes is the only goalkeeper in MIAA history to post 12 consecutive shutouts. She is the all-time Division II leader in career shutouts with 61.
• The Jennies are 21-0-0 for the first time in program history. No other team in program history has ever accomplished that feat.

Road Warriors
• On the road, the Jennies are still just as good as at home. In 10 regular season road games, the Jennies went 10-0.
• The Jennies posted shutouts in all 10 of their regular season road wins while outscoring their opponents a combined 34-0. 
• Under Head Coach Lewis Theobald UCM is 80-15-10 in road games in 11 seasons of play. 

There's No Place Like Home
• Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 25-0-0 at Jennies Field and have allowed just five goals in that span.
• The Jennies have outscored opponents 78-5 in goals at home since 2016, and have allowed just three goals at home this season in 11 games.
• All-time at Jennies Field, UCM is 135-26-7 with a .824 winning percentage. Under Head Coach Lewis Theobald, the Jennies are 106-9-5 at home since 2007 and have posted undefeated home records three times.
