Piontek Earns Career Win No. 250 in Sweep of Lindenwood

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 24, 2017) - No. 16 Central Missouri Volleyball earned their fourth straight win with a 3-0 sweep of Lindenwood Tuesday night, 25-23, 25-14, 25-14. The win gives the Jennies 10 conference wins to just two losses and puts them at 20-5 for the season.

How it Happened
• The Jens didn't miss much on offense, committing just 11 errors on 109 attempts and hitting .294 for the match.
• Defensively, UCM dug out 56 attacks, more than 18 per set, and held the Lions to a .110 hitting percentage.
• Central Missouri scored six points off the serve and took advantage of 27 Lindenwood errors.
• The opening set was by far the closest of the night. The frame saw eight ties and four lead changes. After a bad set by UCM, the Jens trailed 9-6, their largest deficit. They came back though with four unanswered, getting three Lindenwood attack errors and took a 10-9 lead. The Lions regained the lead at 14-13, but UCM stormed back with a 9-2 run and took what appeared to be commanding lead at 22-16. It was the Lions turn to come back though, getting all the way to within one, 23-22 and forcing a UCM timeout. The Jens still held a one-point lead 24-23 after a Hannah VanBuskirk kill and the set went the Jennies way after a Lindenwood service error, their second of the set.
• The Lions kept set two close midway through, trailing by only three, 13-10, but that's when UCM put it away with a 12-4 run to end the frame. After Central Missouri went ahead 21-13, the Jens only scored one more point, the last one, a block from Audrey Fisher and Molly Lawrence for a 25-14 win.
• Set three was much the same as set two, in fact it ended with another 25-14 set score. This one, UCM dominated from the beginning getting ahead 10-4, and then by as much as 11, 17-6 after another LWU attack error. The Jennies scored the final four points, the last coming on Kasey Hohlen's 10th kill of the game. Fisher had seven kills in the set.
