Travis Mays holds the 36-hold lead at the Missouri Stroke Play Golf Championship in Cape Girardeau.
Springer shot rounds of 66-67-70 to finish at 10-under par at the Hattisburg Country Club to capture the individual title. The Olathe, Kan. native completed his final round with five birdies on the back nine to to earn the one-shot win over Pryce Beshoory. The rest of the top five finishers were either current or future Division I players.
The Magnolia Amateur is a limited field event of 144 players consisting of a collegiate division and a mid-amateur division. The overall champion may come from either division, with the competition taking place over three days and 54 holes.
Mays shot rounds of 70 and 69 and sits at five-under par after the first two rounds at the Missouri Amateur Stroke Play Golf Championship. He leads Brevin Giebler and Skip Berkmeyer, who sit at three-under par, by two strokes heading in to Wednesday's final day of action at Dalhousie Golf Club.
Wednesday's final day will consist of 36 holes. The third round tees off at 7:30 a.m. with the final round set to begin upon completion of round three.
