OKLAHOMA CITY -- Jennies Softball sees their season come to an end in the MIAA Tournament at the hands of Pitt State, Friday afternoon.
Pitt State jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after an error by
Ali Jo Rogers with two outs in the first inning. The Gorillas capitalized on the error and scored four more runs in the inning before Ashton Pratt was thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple. The Jennies went down in order to end the first.
Pitt State added on another run in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead. In the bottom half of the inning,
Lauren Mabe singled to left field with one out.
Allie Dishinger put the Jennies on the board with a two-run shot to left field. A fly out ended the inning for the Jens.
The two teams traded scoreless innings until the bottom of the fourth.
Alexis Koop reached on a fielders choice sac bunt to bring home Mabe. Rogers then singled home
Austin Eickleberry cutting the lead to 7-4.
The Gorillas would add two more runs later in the game and win 9-4. The loss drops the Jens to 28-27, while Pitt State improves to 38-18.
Allison Tonyan got the start for the Jens and went two-thirds of an inning, giving up six runs, zero earned, and four hits.
Emily Robinson came in in relief and pitched 6.1 innings, giving up two runs while striking out two and walking five.
