Quick Hits
Last Time Out
Central Missouri took Missouri Southern to overtime on senior day last Saturday, but the Lions hit 13-of-14 free throws in the extra period and walked out with a 76-73 win. The Jennies held MSSU to just 22 second half points (not including overtime) to come back from down 11. Shelby Winkelmann scored 29 points to tie her season-high. Ashley Jones scored 17 and Paige Redmond scored 11. Ashley Duffy set new career-highs with 11 rebounds and six steals.

Jennies on the Road
The Jennies are finished with home games this season, ending with a 6-6 mark and 5-6 in conference games. The Jens play their final two games on the road at Lindenwood and at Missouri Western. UCM is 3-8 away from Warrensburg this year and 3-6 in MIAA road contests.

Conference Leaders
A couple of Jennies are trending towards the top of the rankings in the MIAA. Senior Shelby Winkelmann is second in the MIAA scoring with 19.6 points per game and sixth in shooting percentage at 49.1% (167-340). Her 19.6 points per game is 18th in the country. She is also sixth in the conference with 1.8 steals and ninth with 3.5 assists per game in the MIAA.

Earlier this season, Winkelmann cracked 1,000 career points. She is currently 15th all-time with 1,310. Next up for Winkelmann to catch is Robin Williams who played from 1986-1990 and scored 1,337 career points. She needs to score 108 more points to crack the UCM top-10.

Senior Ashley Jones is at the top of the conference in a pair of categories. With 8.8 rebounds per game, she sits third in the MIAA and is 83rd in NCAA Division II. Her 57.1% shooting percentage is currently second in the MIAA. She's gone 124-217 from the field this season. At 57.1%, Jones ranks 18th in shooting percentage in all of Division II. She's also shooting 59.4% (104-175) in conference games.

Finally Ashley Duffy is the MIAA leader in steals with 2.2 per game and 54 total steals. She picked up 11 swipes last week including a career-high six against Missouri Southern.

Tough Losses
The Jennies are currently in the midst of a season-long tying three game losing streak. However the combined total of those three losses is just 10, with one loss coming in overtime. This season the Jennies are 2-7 in games decided by five points or less.

Predicting a Winner
This season there has been nearly one sure-fire way to determine if the Jennies won or lost and that comes down to rebounding. When the Jennies are on the plus side of the rebounding battle, UCM is 7-1. When they are outrebounded, they have lost 13 of 14. Those numbers remained true last week. Pittsburg State held a 32-27 edge in the loss to the Gorillas and the Jennies and Lions each picked up 34 boards in the Jens overtime loss to Missouri Southern.

Magic Number
The number 70 has been a good prognostication of a Jennies win or loss this season. UCM is 7-3 this season when scoring 70 points. However they are also 3-9 when allowing opponents to reach 70 points. UCM scored 73 in the overtime loss to Missouri Southern, also giving up 76 in the process.

Bucking the Trend
Typically a low opponent shooting percentage should produce positive results. However that has not been the case for the Jennies this season. When opponents shoot lower than 40% from the field, the Jennies are just 3-5 in those games. The Jens are also 2-2 when their opponent shoots 50% or better. For the season, UCM is allowing opponents to shoot 43.2% from the floor.

20-20 Vision
With their 21 wins in 2014-15, UCM has now won at least 20 games in four straight seasons. It is their longest such stretch since the Jens went 11 straight years with at least 20 wins from 1981-82 - 1991-92.

Scouting the Opposition
Lindenwood Lions
Overall Record: 7-19
Conference Record: 3-17 (MIAA)
Series History: Jennies lead 10-2
Last Meeting: Jan. 13, 2016 - UCM 82, LWU 64 - Warrensburg, Mo.
Head Coach: Tony Francis (77-94, third season)

• Despite being 3-17, the Lions still have an outside shot at making a play-in game for the MIAA Tournament. They'll need to win their last two games and get some help to do so.
• The Lions have lost 15 straight games with their last win coming Dec. 20, 2015.
• What Lindenwood has is one of the top point-scorers in the league in Kassidy Gengenbacher. She's averaging 17.2 points for the Lions, sixth in the MIAA, and is also second on the team with 110 rebounds.
• Also scoring in double-figures is Jenny Rocha. She's scoring 11.5 points per game and is sixth in the MIAA with 4.0 assists per game and 104 total helpers.
• Vanessa Zailo is one of the league's top rebounders. She is fifth in the conference with 8.1 boards per game and has pulled down a team-high 194 caroms. The last time the Jennies went to Lindenwood, Zailo recorded 26 rebounds.
• As a team, Lindenwood is fourth in the MIAA in shooting percentage at 42.9% from the floor. They're in the middle of the pack at 32.7% from beyond the arc and 73.4% from the free throw line which rank eighth and ninth respectively in the MIAA.
• Defensively only Lincoln is giving up more points than the Lions this season. Lindenwood opponents are scoring 70.8 points per game and shooting 42.7% from the field.
• Turnovers have plagued the Lions. They have committed 464 turnovers, most in the MIAA. They are also at the bottom of the conference in assist to turnover ratio at 0.63.
• Lindenwood attempts to make up for the large number of turnovers by taking the ball back via the steal. LWU is fifth in the MIAA with 8.42 steals per game, led by Charisse Williams who has 42.
• The Lions are prone to getting into foul trouble, having committed the most personal fouls in the league at 295, 22.2/game.
