Dual NotesWARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Mules Wrestling team will face Newman on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Multipurpose Building for their first MIAA dual of the season. The Mules will also compete Friday at the Missouri Valley Invitational in Marshall, Missouri.
PreviewThe Mules will face the Newman Jets to open MIAA action. The Mules are 1-3 in duals this season. The Jets boast one nationally-ranked and three regionally-ranked wrestlers coming into the dual.
Transfer
Erick Vargas is scheduled to make his debut for the Mules in the dual. The Omaha, Nebraska native comes to Central Missouri from Colorado Mesa.
Daide Agnew has placed fourth at two tournaments this season wrestling at 133 pounds. Agnew is 13-13 overall and 1-3 in duals this season. He is tied for the team lead in wins with 13, leads the team in major decisions with three and is tied for second in team points with eight and a half.
Caleb Crabtree will be wrestling at 141 pounds. He is 10-11 this season and 1-3 in duals. Crabtree placed fifth at the UNK Open Amateur Division where he went 5-2 and recorded a victory over Aris Shino of Nebraska. Crabtree is tied for fourth on the team in falls with three.
Steffon Fassett is 7-11 overall this season and 4-7 when competing at 149 pounds. He earned a win by fall in the dual with Wentworth.
Tyler Horton will be wrestling at 157 pounds. Horton is 5-11 overall this season and 4-11 when competing at 157. Horton is 1-3 in duals with a win by fall against Wentworth.
At 165 pounds the Mules will turn to
Allan Person. Person is 12-8 overall and 5-4 wrestling at 165. He is tied for third on the team in wins.
All-American
Archie Williams will be wrestling at 174 pounds. He is 13-6 overall and 11-5 competing in the 174 weight class. He won the UNK Open Elite Division at 174 pounds and placed third at the Luther Hill Invitational at 174 pounds. He is 2-2 in duals with victories in duals against Wentworth and Newberry. Williams is tied for first on the team in wins, first in winning percentage with a .684 percentage, first in team points scored with 11 and is tied for second in tech falls with two.
All-American
Ty Loethen will once again wrestle at 184. He is 8-4 this season placing third at the UCM Open at 174 pounds and second at the UNK Open in the Elite Division at 165 pounds. He is second on the team in winning percentage with a .667 percentage, tied for second in falls with four and tied for second in tech falls with two.
Robert Schneider will wrestle at 197 for the Mules. Schneider is 11-10 this season and 1-2 in duals while placing at two tournaments this year including a sixth-place finish at the Buena Vista Open and a fifth-place finish at the Luther Hill Invitational, both at 197 pounds. He is fifth on the team in wins, and leads the team in falls with eight.
Nicholas Lovejoy will wrestle at heavyweight. Lovejoy is 12-9 this season and 1-3 in duals. He sits in the top four in all major statistical categories for the Mules. Lovejoy placed fourth at the UCM Open, second at the UNK Open in the Elite Division and second at the Luther Hill Invitational.
Mat Points• The Mules are looking to get back in the win column after a winless outing at the
NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals.
• This will be the first time since the dual against Nebraska-Kearney on Feb. 7, 2014 that the Mules will compete with a full lineup.
Erick Vargas is scheduled to fill the 125 lb. slot that the Mules have been forced to leave open in their four duals this season.
• A win for the Mules would give them three-straight victories over Newman dating back to Jan. 30, 2014.
• Newman will be the first MIAA opponent that the Mules will face this season. Central Missouri went 1-4 in MIAA competition last season, and placed fifth at the conference championships.
• Newman has one nationally ranked wrestler in Dustin Reed, who sits No. 3 at 125 lbs., and two other regionally ranked wrestlers with
Tyler Miles coming in at No. 4 at 149, and Heath Gray who is No. 5 at 174. Newman competes in Super Region IV.
• This will be the second dual of the season for Newman as they will take on No. 10 Lindenwood, in what is both their first dual and first MIAA dual of the season, Wednesday night.

Justin Ensign. The visiting team has won the last five meetings in the series. The Mules have won the last two meetings, and beat the Jets 36-17 last season. The last time a team won at least three in a row in the series was UCM from 2004-09.
