St. Charles, Mo. – No. 21 Central Missouri (12-7, 9-2 MIAA) swept Lindenwood (5-14, 2-9 MIAA) on Tuesday night, 25-19, 25-18, 25-20. As a team the Jennies hit .283, with nine blocks and six aces.
Central Missouri led the Lions the entire first set. In the second set, the score was tight in the first half of set, with several tie scores. A service error from Lindenwood gave the Jennies the lead at 6-7, and they were able to tally four more points, to take an 11-6 lead. The Jennies kept at least a five point lead through the set, and had extended their lead to seven points by the end of the sent. Central Missouri took the six of the first 10 points in the third set, but then were held to six points while the Lions tied the score. The Jennies then took five of seven points to take a 10-7 lead, which was further extended when Central Missouri won seven of nine points to follow. Lindenwood reached 20 points for the first time in the set, just before Central Missouri earned match point.
Carly Sojka hit .424 in the match, with 16 kills. She also had an ace and 12 digs in the match.
Haley Thompson and
Becca Blaise had seven kills and four blocks each.
Mackenzie Harding also had four blocks total, three block solo, and three kills.
Kourtney Thompson had 35 assists, three kills, and a block in three sets.
Annie Reilly had nine digs and three aces,
Shelby Winkelmann had two aces.
The Jennies have two more matches this week. First up is Southwest Baptist at home on Friday, followed by a road match on Saturday against Pittsburg State.
