Scene Setter...
Jennies Softball will close out the 2013 regular season with a pair of key MIAA doubleheaders Sunday and Monday. Sunday the Jennies travel to Joplin to face Missouri Southern in a twin bill starting at 4 p.m. before heading west to Pittsburg Monday for the regular season finale at Pittsburg State starting at 11 a.m.

The Jennies are coming off a 3-1 home stand last week that saw them sweep Nebraska-Kearney Saturday (9-4, 9-2) and split a doubleheader Sunday against 18th ranked Fort Hays State (0-7, 10-2 in five innings).

Missouri Southern State University (Location: Joplin, Mo.)

Series History
Missouri Southern: Sunday's MIAA twin bill at Missouri Southern will be the 86-87 meetings all-time. The Jennies lead the series 49-36. Last season UCM swept Missouri Southern at home 8-0 and 4-1. The Jennies defeated the Lions in a non-conference game earlier this season in Joplin 8-2. 

Pittsburg State: Monday's conference doubleheader at Pittsburg State will mark the 60-61 meetings all-time. The Jennies lead the series 40-19. Last season the Jennies swept the Gorillas at home 4-3 and 10-9.

Head Coach Susan Anderson
Jennies Softball head coach Susan Anderson is in her seventh season with the Cardinal and Black. She has an overall record of 207-160 as the bench boss at Central Missouri and a career record of 388-332 in 14 seasons as a head coach. 

With the Jennies 5-3 win in game one against Truman Friday, April 5, Anderson picked up her 200th win as the Jennies bench boss. 

Prior to coming to UCM, Anderson was at MIAA rival Northwest Missouri for four seasons where she went 124-96. 

Non-Conference Games
Central Missouri has been 782-573 in non-conference games since 1972, the beginning of softball at UCM. In the 'NCAA/MIAA Era' the Jennies have compiled a 638-450 non-conference mark. Anderson has a 110-102 record in non-conference contests.

Conference Games
Central Missouri has posted a 236-133 MIAA mark since the inception of the conference in 1983. Under Anderson the Jennies are 75-41 in conference action.

Home Field Advantage
Since the 1977 season, Central Missouri is 351-156 at home. Under Anderson, the Jennies are 64-26 at home. UCM has gone undefeated in the 2007 (8-0), 1991 (13-0), 1989 (8-0), and 1979 (6-0). The Jennies have compiled a 9-7 record at the South Rec. Complex this season. 

On the Road
Since 1977, UCM has posted a 218-199 mark on the road and a 422-315 record at neutral sites. Under Anderson the Jennies have gone 60-56 on the road and 77-74 at neutral sites. This season the Jennies have posted a road record of 6-7 and are 8-5 at neutral sites. 

Inside the Numbers
  • Braylyn Bivens leads the UCM offense through 42 games, hitting .390 with 24 RBIs in 141 at bats. She also leads the team in stolen bases, going 24-27.
  • Jakki Prater leads the team in RBIs, driving in 34 runs in 112 at bats. She also has a team-best six home runs.
  • Ashlea Bengtson is hitting .331 through 42 games with three home runs.
  • Alex Groeger is hitting .2326 in 33 games and has 20 RBIs.
  • Prater also paces the Jennies pitching rotation with an ERA of 2.39 and 8-5 record. She has struck out 84 in 102.1 innings and walked 25. Prater has a team-high 10 complete games. 
  • As a team the Jennies are hitting .295 while holding opponents to .261. UCM's team ERA is 3.31 while its opponents is 3.61.  
Jennies in the MIAA Statistics (As of April 22)
  • The Jennies are eighth in the MIAA in team batting with an average of .295. Central Oklahoma leads the league with a .341 average.
  • Central Missouri is seventh in the conference in team pitching with an ERA of 3.31. Fort Hays State leads the league with an ERA of 1.74.
  • UCM is 12th in the MIAA in team fielding with percentage of .947. Fort Hays State leads the conference with a fielding percentage of .971.
  • Braylyn Bivens is seventh in the conference in batting with an average of .390, third in runs scored with 44 and third in stolen bases, going 24-27.
