SMITHVILLE, Mo. -- The final day of the MIAA Men's and Women's Golf Championships at Paradise Pointe Golf Course has been canceled due to weather. The results from the first two rounds of men's action and the first round of women's action completed on Monday will now become the final results. The Mules finish in second place at the tournament while the Jennies finish in 10th place.
Both teams will now await their NCAA postseason fate as regional berths will be announced later this week. The Mules were ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Division II Central Region poll released last week. The Jennies were not ranked in the women's Central Region poll. The men's regional is set for May 6-8 at Strawberry Creek Golf Club in Kenosha, Wis. while the women's regional is May 5-7 at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo.
Robby Hughey led the Mules with a fourth place finish after shooting a two-round total of one-under par, 143.
Sam Migdal tied for sixth place at one over par, 145. Travis Mays shot a four-over par 148 and finished in a tie for 12th place. Cy Moritz (+6) and Teddy Jones (+11) are finished in ties for 20th and 36th, respectively.
On the women's side,
Katie Threlkeld shot an 11-over par 83 to finish in a tie for 19th place.
Kayla Temple tied for 34th after firing an 86 and
Jordan Thoreson was 45th after shooting a 96.
Liz Boatright and
Krystal Martinez each shot 98 to finish in a tie for 46th.
Central Oklahoma claimed both the men's and women's team titles and both individual medalist honors as well. Dillon Rust fired a seven-under par 137 to claim the men's individual title, while Aly Seng shot a one-under 71 to claim the women's crown.
