Scene Setter...
Jennies Softball will return home to the friendly confines of the South Recreation Complex beginning Saturday with an MIAA doubleheader against Nebraska-Kearney at 1 p.m. The Jennies will then host No. 18 Fort Hays State for another MIAA twin bill Sunday beginning at noon.
The Jennies went 3-1 last week, splitting an MIAA doubleheader at Lincoln Sunday before sweeping a conference doubleheader against Southwest Baptist Monday in Bolivar.

Series History
Nebraska-Kearney: Saturday's conference doubleheader with the Lopers will be the seventh and eighth meetings all-time. The Jennies trail the all-time series 1-5. The last time the two teams met was 1998 with the Jennies falling to the Lopers 1-0. 

Fort Hays State: Sunday's MIAA doubleheader with the Tigers will be the 22nd and 23rd all-time meetings. The Jennies lead the series 12-9. Last season UCM was by Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan. 8-2 and 6-1. 

Head Coach Susan Anderson
Jennies Softball head coach Susan Anderson is in her seventh season with the Cardinal and Black. She has an overall record of 204-159 as the bench boss at Central Missouri and a career record of 385-331 in 14 seasons as a head coach. 

With the Jennies 5-3 win in game one against Truman Friday, April 5, Anderson picked up her 200th win as the Jennies bench boss. 

Prior to coming to UCM, Anderson was at MIAA rival Northwest Missouri for four seasons where she went 124-96. 

Non-Conference Games
Central Missouri has been 782-573 in non-conference games since 1972, the beginning of softball at UCM. In the 'NCAA/MIAA Era' the Jennies have compiled a 638-450 non-conference mark. Anderson has a 110-102 record in non-conference contests.

Conference Games
Central Missouri has posted a 233-132 MIAA mark since the inception of the conference in 1983. Under Anderson the Jennies are 72-40 in conference action.

Home Field Advantage
Since the 1977 season, Central Missouri is 348-155 at home. Under Anderson, the Jennies are 61-25 at home. UCM has gone undefeated in the 2007 (8-0), 1991 (13-0), 1989 (8-0), and 1979 (6-0). The Jennies have compiled a 6-6 record at the South Rec. Complex this season. 

On the Road
Since 1977, UCM has posted a 218-199 mark on the road and a 422-315 record at neutral sites. Under Anderson the Jennies have gone 60-56 on the road and 77-74 at neutral sites. This season the Jennies have posted a road record of 6-7 and are 8-5 at neutral sites. 

Inside the Numbers
  • Braylyn Bivens leads the UCM offense through 38 games, hitting .378 with 18 RBIs in 127 at bats. She also leads the team in stolen bases, going 21-24.
  • Jakki Prater leads the team in RBIs, driving in 29 runs in 106 at bats. She also has a team-best four home runs.
  • Ashlea Bengtson is hitting .325 through 38 games with three home runs.
  • Alex Groeger is hitting .298 in 29 games and has 17 RBIs. She drove in seven runs combined at Lincoln and Southwest Baptist last week.
  • Prater also paces the Jennies pitching rotation with an ERA of 2.39 and 8-5 record. She has struck out 84 in 102.1 innings and walked 25. Prater has a team-high 10 complete games. 
  • Katie Shockley picked up her first save of the season in the Jennies 5-4 win at Southwest Baptist Monday and also pitched 4.2 innings in relief, retiring nine batters, in the Jennies 8-5 win at Lincoln Sunday. Her record is now 5-4 overall. 
  • As a team the Jennies are hitting .292 while holding opponents to .265. UCM's team ERA is 3.45 while its opponents is 3.47.  
Jennies in the MIAA Statistics (As of April 8)
  • The Jennies are ninth in the MIAA in team batting with an average of .288. Central Oklahoma leads the league with a .345 average.
  • Central Missouri is 8th in the conference in team pitching with an ERA of 3.40. Fort Hays State leads the league with an ERA of 1.43.
  • UCM is 11th in the MIAA in team fielding with percentage of .951. Fort Hays State leads the conference with a fielding percentage of .973.

The Jennies will travel to Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State to close out the 2013 MIAA regular season schedule. The Jennies will face the Lions in a doubleheader Friday, April 26 starting at 4 p.m. before facing the Gorillas Saturday, April 27 in another twin bill beginning at 1 p.m.
