Caddell also reached a major milestone in her UCM career in the win over Lincoln on Jan. 30, surpassing the 1,000 point mark. Caddell became the 24th player in Jennies basketball history to reach that total, and was the third-fastest Jennie to do so, reaching the milestone in just 74 games played. With her 23 points against Truman on Feb. 27, Caddell moved into 19th place on the UCM scoring list, surpassing Margaret Nielson (1978-80) and Bethany Orendorff (2001-05). With 23 more points, she will pull into a tie for 18th on the list with Kara Fleming (2007-11).
Caddell also pulled down her 700th career rebound against the Hornets last weekend in Kansas City. She now stands 8th on UCM's all-time rebounding list, with 704 boards in her career. With her one block at Lindenwood, Caddell, became just the third player in Jennies history to have at least 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, and 100 blocks, joining Rosie Jones (1981-85) and Barb Sorensen (1986-90).
Scoring Threat
Junior
BreAnna Lewis has been one of the nation's best three-point shooters this season. Lewis ranks fifth in the MIAA in scoring and 81st in Division II, with 16.1 points per game. The 5' 7” guard has averaged 2.9 three-pointers per game, second-most in the conference, and 10th-most in NCAA Division II. Of the 64 teams still playing, Lewis ranks fifth in threes hit per game.
Lewis is shooting at a 37.0% clip from beyond the arc, ranking 48th nationally and fifth out of the teams in the Central Regional Tournament. The Greenville, Miss. native had struggled from deep before entering the MIAA Tournament, going a combined 3-of-24 from beyond the arc the final three games of the regular season, but bounced back with eight treys and a 44.4% shooting performance throughout the MIAA Tournament. She averaged 17 points per game in Kansas City, leading the Jennies in scoring in the two tournament victories over Missouri Western and Fort Hays State. Overall, the Jennies have a 19-2 record when Lewis hits two or more three-pointers in a game.
In the win over Academy of Art, Lewis knocked down seven three-pointers, tying her for the third-most in a single game in Jennies program history; she has hit five or more treys in eight games, and has hit six in her last two games, against Missouri Southern and Lindenwood.
Former Teammates
Jennies
Keuna Flax and
BreAnna Lewis were former teammates at Trinity Valley CC, where they won the NJCAA national championship and posted a perfect 36-0 record last season. Both players have increased their scoring averages from that season; Flax, who scored 16.7 points per game at Trinity Valley, averages 19.5 for the Jennies, while Lewis has risen her averages from 13.6 points to 16.1 points per game. With the Jennies, the pair account for 35.6 points per game, over half of the team's scoring average.
MIAA Tournament
The Jennies reached the championship game of the MIAA Tournament for the 13th time in program history last weekend, but fell to the Emporia State Hornets, 67-51, in the championship game on Sunday. The Jennies drew the No. 2 seed in the tournament, and won a pair of close contests over 10th-seeded Missouri Western and 6th-seeded Fort Hays State to reach the final. The Jennies have a 7-6 all-time record in the MIAA Tournament championship game, and have lost their last five appearances; the last MIAA Tournament championship game in 1990.
Milestone Victory
After defeating Missouri Western in the MIAA Tournament quarterfinals on Friday, head coach
Dave Slifer moved into second place on the Jennies all-time wins list, passing Scott Ballard (1995-03). Slifer surpassed Mildred Barnes (1971-80) for third place on the list earlier this season, with a win at home over Pittsburg State on Jan. 12. After defeating Lincoln on Feb. 16, head coach
Dave Slifer earned his 550th career victory; he now has a 169-96 record on the UCM sideline, and a 553-195 record during his 24-year coaching career. At the start of the season Slifer ranked seventh among active coaches at the Division II level in total wins, and is one of just eight active coaches to reach the 500 wins mark. Slifer also has the most victories in MIAA history, with nine seasons at UCM and nine at Missouri Western from 1995-2004.
Starting Roles
Point guard
Brielle Wattley and forward
Quinnecia Twine have developed into key components of the Jennies' success this season. Both players earned regular starting spots during the pair of games in Las Vegas in December.
Twine has started 21 games this season, and is averaging 7.4 points this season. The Atlanta, Ga. native is one of the Jennies most solid defenders, with the second-highest total of steals (31) this year. Offensively, Twine can also be a threat from deep; she has the team's second-most three-point field goals this year, and is shooting 33.3% (37-of-111) from long range. The junior has scored in double figures in ten starts, and set a new career high with 24 points in the win over Central Oklahoma. Twine also hit a career-high five three-pointers against the Bronchos.
Wattley has started the last 22 games at point guard, and is averaging 1.9 assists as a starter. She leads the team with a 1.60 assist-to-turnover ratio this season, and committed just four turnovers through 87 minutes of playing time throughout the MIAA Tournament. The sophomore from Fort Wayne, Ind. averages 3.8 points per game, and shoots 44.7% (42-94) from the field.

Currently, UCM is riding a 14-game winning streak at the Multi.
Disappointing Departure
After leading the Jennies offense during the first eight games of the season, freshman
Shelby Winkelmann suffered a season-ending injury during the win over Dixie State. Winkelmann was averaging 17.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, leading the team in scoring at the time. The current team leader,
Keuna Flax, played together with Winkelmann for one game (Dixie State) before the freshman's injury.
Winning Time
The Jennies have developed a knack for pulling out close games this season; the team is 8-0 in games decided by five points or less, most recently in Friday night's win over Missouri Western at the MIAA Tournament. UCM has claimed three wins after trailing with five minutes left in regulation (Southwest Baptist, Northeastern State, Missouri Western), and are a perfect 21-0 when leading at the five-minute mark.

UCM in the Polls
After reaching the championship game of the MIAA Tournament, the Central Missouri Jennies held steady at No. 13 for the third straight week, in the latest WBCA USA TODAY Sports Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Jennies are the second-highest MIAA squad in the poll, behind No. 8 Washburn, who moved up one spot, despite being upset in the MIAA semifinals by Emporia State.
Earlier this season (Feb. 12-19), the Jennies reached their highest rank in the WBCA Coaches Poll, when they earned the No. 7 spot.
Five teams competing in the NCAA Central Regional this weekend are currently ranked in the WBCA Poll, led by the Lady Blues at No. 8 and the Jennies at No. 13. Minnesota State, who earned the fourth seed in the regional, are ranked at No. 17, while Concordia-St. Paul, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, are ranked No. 21 in the nation. Augustana, the No. 6 seed in the tournament moved into the poll this week at No. 24. No. 5 seed Arkansas Tech, No. 7 Southwestern Oklahoma State, and No. 8 Emporia State are all receiving votes this week as well. The five ranked teams in the Central regional matches the Atlantic regional for the most teams ranked in the poll this week.
Series History with Southwestern Oklahoma St.
The Jennies and Bulldogs have only met once previously in program history. UCM defeated SWOSU 82-65, at an early-season tournament hosted by St. Mary of the Plains, in 1987-88.
Opponent Preview
The Bulldogs are making their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, after finishing the season with a 23-6 record and second-place finish in the Great American Conference. SWOSU fell short of defending their title from last season at the GAC Tournament, as the Bulldogs knocked off Henderson State and Harding in a pair of blowouts before falling to Arkansas Tech in the GAC Tournament championship game, 70-66.
The Bulldogs boast the third-highest scoring average in Division II, as they average 80.4 points per game. They are also one of the few teams that knock down more threes than the Jennies, averaging 8.7 treys per game, good for 6th-most in the nation. Junior Michelle Fisher is the Bulldogs' leading scorer, with 17.0 points per game, fourth-most among players at the Central regional.
A Win for the Jennies Would...
be the first win in the NCAA Tournament since 2006 ... improve the Jennies record to 25-5 this season ... improve the Jennies record against Southwestern Oklahoma St. to 2-0 ... be the third straight win in the NCAA Tournament over a non-MIAA opponent ... increase the Jennies record in the NCAA Tournament in the
Dave Slifer era to 2-4.
A Loss for the Jennies Would...
be the third straight first-round exit in the NCAA Tournament ... drop the Jennies record to 24-6 on the year ... be the first ever loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State ... be the first loss to a non-MIAA opponent in the NCAA Tournament since 1990 (Oakland, NCAA Elite Eight) ... be the third straight NCAA Tournament loss in Topeka, Kan.
UCM Program History
The UCM Jennies are 849-354 (.706) after 41 seasons, and 646-265 (.709) in the 30 seasons since joining NCAA Division II ... The matchup with Lincoln on Jan. 30 marked the 900th game for the Jennies since joining the NCAA Division II ... the Jennies have won 9 MIAA regular season championships, 7 MIAA Tournament titles, 6 NCAA regional titles, and the 1984 NCAA Division II National Championship.
UCM Athletics
The 2011-12 school year saw Central Missouri's 15 sports combine for seven MIAA regular season titles, and three MIAA tournament championships (women's soccer, baseball, men's golf). The Mules and Jennies have totaled 193 MIAA regular season championships across all sports, the most of any MIAA program. UCM has won five national championships since 1980 (men's and women's basketball in 1984, baseball in 1994 and 2003, and women's bowling in 2003), and seven national titles overall. This season, Central Missouri has collected three regular season MIAA titles, in women's soccer, men's indoor track and field, and most recently, men's basketball. UCM also picked up it's first MIAA Tournament crown of the year, winning the men's basketball tournament on Sunday.
MIAA Preseason Polls
After a fourth place regular season finish a year ago, the Jennies debuted at No. 6 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media Polls. Washburn, who won the regular season and tournament titles last year, were picked to repeat by both the coaches and the media. Pittsburg State, who reached the first round of the NCAA Elite Eight, were picked second in both polls.
In the Classroom
As much success as the Jennies saw on the court in 2011-12, they achieved just as much in the classroom. Nine players on last year's roster earned the MIAA Academic Honor Roll award, for earning at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Two players from a year ago,
Alyssa Rhodes and
Taylor Hanson, were honored with the MIAA Scholar-Athlete award, as the two seniors were recognized for earning All-MIAA Team honors while maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher.
Junior forward
Kiersten Orton was one of just 18 athletes across all sports at Central Missouri to earn the MIAA Academic Excellence Award. Orton has recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA during her time at UCM, while studying Middle School Math Education.
