(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Jennies' softball (15-18) snapped a four-game skid Saturday afternoon at the South Recreation Complex, sweeping the Northeastern State University Riverhawks (15-13) in a non-conference doubleheader. The Jens pulled out a 4-3 win in game one then rolled to a 4-0 victory in the second game of the series.
Game 1: Central Missouri 4, Northeastern State 3
The Jennies took a hard fought 4-3 win in the first game of the day over the Riverhawks, thanks to three runs in the third inning and one in the fifth.
The three-run third inning started off with a error by Northeastern State, which scored
Katie Groves (Bluffdale, Utah), who was pinch-running after
Jordan Marble (Jefferson City, Mo.) singled to left field, putting the Jens up 1-0.
Braylyn Bivens (Kansas City, Mo.) then hit a sacrifice fly-ball to left field, allowing
Ashlea Bengtson (Wichita, Kan.) to score, increasing the Jennies lead to 2-0.
Alex Groeger (Fort Collins, Colo.) stepped to the plate and gave the Jennies the 3-0 lead on a single to right field, driving in
Karissa Williams (Wichita, Kan.).
The Riverhawks didn't go quietly though, as the very next inning they scored a run, pulling them within two of the Jens, 2-1.
Central Missouri responded in the bottom of the fifth when Bivens scored on an error by Northeastern State, making it 4-1 heading into the final inning.
The Riverhawks added another two runs in the top of the sixth but a groundout to shortstop with two-outs sealed the 4-3 win for the Jennies.

Megan Schallom (St. Louis, Mo.) pitched a complete game, striking out three, improving her overall record to 3-3 this season.
Game 2: Central Missouri 4, Northeastern State 0
The Jennies completed the doubleheader sweep of the Riverhawks with a 4-0 shutout victory in game two. The Jennies has a commanding 9-2 hitting advantage in the contest and committed only one miscue.
The Jennies started off quickly, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first to take the 2-0 early lead.
Alex Groeger (Fort Collins, Colo.) drove in the first of the two runs with a fielder's choice, scoring
Karissa Williams (Wichita, Kan.).
Jaydee Young (Peculiar, Mo.) then took advantage of a Riverhawk throwing error, crossing the plate to give the Jennies their second run of the inning.
Central Missouri did not score again until to bottom of the fifth when
Nicole Norberg (St. Louis, Mo.) blasted a double to deep centerfield, driving in
Jakki Prater (Nixa, Mo.) and Young, giving the Jens the 4-0 lead.
Right-hander
Lacey Dixon (Gallatin, Mo.) pitched a complete game for the Jens, striking out four and only allowing two hits, improving to 3-5 overall this season.
The Jennies return to action Sunday afternoon with a noon doubleheader against the 12
th ranked University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
