(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Jennies' softball (11-11) snapped a four-game losing skid Wednesday afternoon at the South Recreation Complex, taking both ends of a non-conference doubleheader with the Rockhurst Hawks (3-16). The Jens won the first contest 8-0 in five innings then took the nightcap 6-4.
Game 1: Central Missouri 8, Rockhurst 0
The Jennies rolled to an 8-0 victory over the Hawks in the first game of the day, scoring at least one run in every inning except the first.
Central Missouri took the lead in the bottom of the second when
Brittany Martin (Warrensburg, Mo.) was able to steal home, giving UCM the early 1-0 lead. The Jennies added a pair of runs in the bottom of the third on an error by Rockhurst which scored
Katie Groves (Bluffdale, Utah) then a double from
Nicole Norberg (St. Louis, Mo.), driving in
Jakki Prater (Nixa, Mo.) and making the Jennies lead 3-0 over the Hawks.
The Jennies added four runs in the bottom of the fourth beginning with a leadoff homerun to deep centerfield by
Jaydee Young (Peculiar, Mo.), her third this season.
Karissa Williams (Wichita, Kan.) added another UCM run after she singled to third base, scoring fellow Wichita native
Ashlea Bengtson and giving Central Missouri the 5-0 advantage. Groves gave the Jennies another run after belting a single to first base, allowing Williams to cross home plate.
Braylyn Bivens (Kansas City, Mo.) gave the Jennies their final run of the fourth inning, stealing home and putting UCM up 7-0.
Bivens added the Jennies final run in the bottom of the fifth with a single up the middle, allowing Bengtson to score and give the Jennies the 8-0 win over the Hawks.

Jakki Prater threw a complete game, striking out five and only allowing two hits, improving her overall record in the pitching circle to 2-1.
Game 2: Central Missouri 6, Rockhurst 4
The Jennies took a hard-fought 6-4 win over the Hawks in the nightcap, completing a sweep of the series against Rockhurst.
The Hawks struck first this time though, taking the early 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Alex Jacobson hit a homerun to centerfield, driving in three runs. The Jennies answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a run of their own on a single by
Ashlea Bengtson (Wichita, Kan.) which allowed
Brittany Martin (Warrensburg, Mo.) to score and pull the Jennies to within two of the Hawks, 3-1.
Central Missouri tied the game up in the bottom of the third on a single by
Katie Groves (Bluffdale, Utah), scoring
Alex Groeger (Fort Collins, Colo.) which pulled the Jennies within one run.
Nicole Norberg (St. Louis, Mo.) delivered the tying run after she singled to right field, driving in Groves and knotting the game up 3-3.
The Jennies added a trio of runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Jordan Marble (Jefferson City, Mo.) gave the Jennies the first two-runs when she blasted a homerun to deep centerfield, her first this season, which drove in Bengtson, giving Central Missouri the 5-3 lead.
Braylyn Bivens (Kansas City, Mo.) added the final run of the fourth inning after she scored on a Rockhurst error.
The Hawks added a run in the top of the sixth making the final score 6-4 in favor of the Jennies.

Lacey Dixon (Gallatin, Mo.) picked up her second win of the season in game two, throwing all seven innings, striking out four, improving her overall record to 2-4 this season.
The Jennies are back in MIAA conference action beginning Friday with a trip to Hays, Kansas to battle the Fort Hays State Tigers in a 3 p.m. doubleheader. The Jennies then head to Topeka, Kansas Saturday for a 1 p.m. conference doubleheader with the Washburn Lady Blues.
