Next up for the Jennies
After a record-setting win last weekend in the Multi, the Central Missouri Jennies will step out of the Central Region for a pair of games in Las Vegas. The Jens will face a pair of squads from the PacWest conference, in the Dixie State Red Storm, and the Academy of Art Urban Knights. Both games will mark the first meeting between UCM and their respective foes, as the trip marks the Jennies return to Las Vegas for the first time since 2005.

Record Setter
Freshman Shelby Winkelmann recorded one of the best single-game performance in Jennies history during the win over Emporia State last week. The freshman recorded 42 points of 16-of-19 shooting, scoring exactly have of UCM's total output against the Lady Hornets. Winkelmann's point total is the third-highest in Jennies history, and the most since Rachel Matakas' 46-point performance in 1994-95.

On the year, Winkelmann is leading the team with 19.4 points per game, and is second on the team in rebounding, with an average of 5.9 boards each night. She ranks second in the MIAA in scoring, and is fifth in the league in shooting percentage, at 61.4%.

Championship Experience
Junior guard BreAnna Lewis has helped lead the offense through the early portion of the season, averaging 15.6 points per game. She led the Jens in scoring until the offensive outburst from Winkelmann against Emporia; the Greenville, Miss. native ranks sixth in the MIAA in scoring average, and ranks second in the league with 2.6 three-pointers made per game. She is also seventh in the league with a .462 shooting percentage from beyond the arc.

Senior Leader
Senior forward Nicole Caddell has recorded double figures in her last four games, totaling 17 points in the win over Emporia State. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native is averaging a double-double, with 12.1 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.

While she only ranks 17th in the MIAA in scoring, Caddell is among the league leaders in other key categories. The senior leads the conference in rebounding, is second in the MIAA in steals per game, with 2.6, and seventh in blocks, averaging 1.6 per night.

Key Reserves
Two juniors have been instrumental in their roles off the bench this season, in Symone Murray and Quinnecia Twine. Murray is averaging 8.0 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game from the forward position. After scoring under ten points in the last two games, Murray's production picked back up, recording a team-high 13 points at Fort Hays, giving the junior four games with double-figure scoring. She also set a career high with seven rebounds against Emporia State last week.

Twine has similar numbers of the year, with an average of 7.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game, while seeing an average of 14.9 minutes on the floor. Twine has been able to get to the free throw line with ease this year, and is third on the team in free throw attempts (20), where she is shooting at a 70.0% clip. Against the Lady Tigers, Twine picked up five points off 1-of-3 shooting, including a 1-of-2 performance from beyond the arc.

Running the Point
After missing all of last season due to injury, senior Erin Redmond has thrived in the starting point guard role in 2012-13. The senior is averaging 3.9 points per game while dealing out 1.7 assists per game. Redmond is shooting 42.3% from the field going 11-of-26 this season.

Milestone Victory
With the 84-77 win at Lewis, Jennies head coach Dave Slifer picked up his 150th victory at UCM. Slifer is five victories away from moving into a tie for third place on the Jennies all-time wins list, with Mildred Barnes (1971-80). Slifer has a 151-92 record on the UCM sideline, and a 534-191 record during his 24-year coaching career. He currently ranks seventh among active coaches at the Division II level in total wins, and is one of just seven active coaches to reach the 500 wins mark.

In the Classroom
As much success as the Jennies saw on the court in 2011-12, they achieved just as much in the classroom. Nine players on last year's roster earned the MIAA Academic Honor Roll award, for earning at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Two players from a year ago, Alyssa Rhodes and Taylor Hanson, were honored with the MIAA Scholar-Athlete award, as the two seniors were recognized for earning All-MIAA Team honors while maintaining a 3.5 GPA or higher.

Junior forward Kiersten Orton was one of just 18 athletes across all sports at Central Missouri to earn the MIAA Academic Excellence Award. Orton has recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA during her time at UCM, while studying Accounting.

MIAA Preseason Polls
After a fourth place regular season finish a year ago, the Jennies debuted at No. 6 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches and Media Polls. The Jens finished behind Fort Hays State in both polls, after finishing ahed of the Tigers in the MIAA standings in 2011-12, and knocking Fort Hays State out of the MIAA Tournament in the first round. UCM also tallied fewer votes than MIAA newcomers Northeastern State (Okla.); the Riverhawks earned an NCAA Tournament at-large bid after competing as an independent last year, and reached the second round before falling to the eventual regional champs, Pittsburg State.

Washburn, who won the regular season and tournament titles last year, were picked to repeat by both the coaches and the media. Pittsburg State, who reached the first round of the NCAA Elite Eight, were picked second in both polls. Emporia State and Northeastern State placed third and fourth, while Fort Hays State rounds out the top five in both polls.

UCM in the Polls
After suffering their first loss of the season to then-No. 17 Fort Hays State, the Jennies fell out of the WBCA USA TODAY Sports Division II Coaches Poll. The Jens recieived their first national ranking of the year last week, debuting in the poll at No. 23. While the Jens dropped out of the poll, they were able to take an MIAA rival out with them; Emporia State, who were ranked No. 21 last week, also dropped out after the Jennies upset the Lady Hornets in Warrensburg.

Three MIAA teams currently are ranked in the top 25 poll this week. Washburn moved up one spot up to No. 7, and are the highest conference team in the poll. Fort Hays State jumped up six spots to No. 11, while Pittsburg State fell for the second straight week, dropping from No. 11 to No. 18.

UCM Program History

Series History with Dixie State & Academy of Art
The pair of opponents the Jennies will face off against in Las Vegas will meet up with the Jennies for the first time in program history. Both games will also be the first time that UCM will play a team out of the PacWest conference, which was established in 1992.

A Win for the Jennies Would...
... improve the Jennies record to 7-1 this season, and 8-1 with a sweep in Las Vegas ... extend the Jennies non-conference winning streak to 12 games, (13 with a sweep) ... start the all-time series against both Dixie State and Academy of Art with a 1-0 record.

A Loss for the Jennies Would...
... drop the Jennies record to 6-2 on the year, and 6-3 with a pair of losses ... be the first neutral site loss since last year's defeat to Pittsburg State in the NCAA Tournament ... be the first regular-season neutral site loss since falling to West Texas A&M in the 2010-11 season, in San Antonio, Texas.

Jennies Basketball in the Multi
The Jens are 448-99 all-time in the Multipurpose Building, and 81-29 during the Slifer era ... UCM has won at least nine home games every year since 2004-05 ... the Jennies have gone undefeated at home three times: 1982-83 (15-0, finished 3rd in the nation), 1985-86 (14-0, regional champions), and 1988-89 (15-0, finished 4th in the nation) ... from 1988 to 1990, the Jennies won a school-record 34 consecutive games at the Multi.
