Jennies survive on the road against Truman, use second half run to win 60-53
Box Score (KIRKSVILLE, Mo.) – After a slow start and a 28% first half shooting performance, the Central Missouri Jennies pieced together a run to edge the Truman Bulldogs, 60-53.  Senior Nicole Caddell led the Jens with 15 points.
      Both sides started off at a sluggish pace, with the first field goal coming over three and a half minutes into the game. The Bulldogs used an 8-1 run to build up a 20-10 edge with 6:52 to play in the first half. UCM answered with seven straight, including a three from Saraethea Brown and four points from Kaneesha Lee to cut the Truman lead to 23-18 with four minutes until intermission. The Bulldogs went into the half with a 27-23 lead, after Renae Shippy's three-pointer with eight seconds left closed the gap a little further.
      Truman maintained a narrow lead through the first eight minutes of the second half, until a trey from Taylor Hanson tied the game at 36-36. After both sides traded scores, Brielle Wattley's jumper gave the Jennies their first lead of the second half, 42-40, with 9:13 to play. A 7-1 run for the Jens in the latter stages of the half put the game away, as UCM held on for the win.
      Brown, along with Caddell, was the only other Jennie to finish in double figures, scoring 11 points. Lee nearly posted her first double-double of the season, recording nine points with eight rebounds.
      With the win, the Jennies improve to 6-4 in the MIAA, and are in a tie for fourth with Fort Hays State in the MIAA standings, at the halfway point of the conference schedule. The current three-game road swing continues this Saturday night, as the Jennies travel to Bolivar to take on Southwest Baptist, at 5:30 p.m.
