(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The Central Missouri Jennies softball team continued its winning streak as they swept Missouri S&T on Wednesday at home. UCM won the first game 6-2 and shutout the Miners 6-0 in the second.
The Jennies (5-7) outhit S&T 17-7 in the two games as four players recorded three hits each. Senior

Ashlea Bengtson and freshman
Braylyn Bivens all had three hits. Bengtson had the lone extra base hit for UCM, connecting on a double. Bivens also scored three times and went 3-of-3 on the bases.
Central Missouri will be back in action at home on Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader against Missouri-St. Louis. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. from Jennies Field.
Game 1: UCM 6, Missouri S&T 2
The Jennies were down 2-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning and tacked on five runs for the win. UCM outhit the Miners 8-4 in the contest.
Central Missouri got on the board in the fifth frame after the Miners committed a fielding error. Bivens was on third with two outs and scored after
Kasey Martin hit a ground ball to the first baseman who could not handle it.
Then in the sixth inning the Jennies sent nine batters to the plate, scoring five of them. UCM had five hits, all singles. With the bases loaded, Bivens hit a single back up the middle to record a RBI. Junior
Katie Groves then singled to left field that scored two runners and later both Bivens and Groves scored on a single by
Kasey Martin.
Junior
Jamin Landreth pitched the final 1.2 innings to record the win. She did not give up any hits, but walked one and struck one out. Junior
Lacey Dixon started the game, going 5.1 innings. She gave up both runs on four hits, walking three and striking out three.
Game 2: UCM 6, Missouri S&T 0
Central Missouri sent one runner across in the second frame and never looked back. The Jennies out hit S&T 8-3 in the contest as no runner ever made it past second base.
With a runner on third base, Bengtson singled to right field that allowed her to score.
In the fifth inning Central Missouri had runners on first and third when the S&T catcher threw the ball into left field trying to pick one off. Both runners where able to score on the error.
Then in the sixth frame Bengtson hit a double that scored a runner from first before scoring herself on a single by sophomore
Brandi Campbell. The Jennies tacked on their last run after another error by the catcher.
Sophomore
Sarah Espy threw the whole game, scattering three hits. She walked three batter and struck out six.
