High School: Cayla excelled for Coach Scott Mercer’s Shawnee Heights High School team, leading her squad to four Kansas High School Girls Bowling Championships appearances and two Regional titles (2018-19).  Bortz anchored the Thunderbirds to 2nd-place (2018) and 3^rd place team finishes (2017) at the KSHSAA 5A Bowling Championships, while finishing as the Kansas 5A Girls Individual Runner-Up twice (2017-18).  Cayla was a four-time Kansas 5A All-State selection, earning three first team selections (2017-19).  Cayla has a high average of 210, high game of 299 and high series of 764.
