In 2019: Started all 13 games at linebacker, emerging as one of the more reliable defenders on the squad ... Finished third on the team making 49 tackles and his 31 solo tackles was also third ... Of his 49 tackles six went for a loss and he picked up 1.5 sacks ... Set a new career-high with 13 tackles, eight solo in the Mules NCAA Playoff game at Ferris State (Nov. 30) ... Returned an interception for a touchdown against Pittsburg State (Oct. 26), running it back 33 yards for a score ... Provided pressure from the linebacker spot, leading the Mules with eight quarterback hurries ... Recorded 20 of his 49 tackles in the NCAA Postseason ... Earned his first career All-MIAA award, making the Honorable Mention team ... Made the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for the third straight season. 

In 2018: Played in 10 games on defense and special teams ... Picked up 16 sacks on the year, 10 solo and six tackle assists ... Had half of a sack against Emporia State (Oct. 13) ... For the second straight season, had a big game against Lindenwood with a season-best seven tackles, five solo ... Ten of his 16 tackles came in the final two games of the season ... Named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for his work in the classroom.

In 2017: Played in 10 games as a backup linebacker and on special teams … Recorded 18 tackles and two sacks … Saw his playing time increase towards the end of the year and made 14 of his 18 tackles in the final four games … Biggest game came against Lindenwood (Nov. 11) where he had a season-best six tackles, three for loss and two sacks totaling 29 yards … Had a tackle and recovered a fumble against Northwest Missouri (Sept. 30) … Named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

In High School: Smith was an Illinois 7A All-State linebacker during his senior season at Quincy Senior High School, playing for head coach Rick Little … he won the Golden Helmet Award, was named Team Defensive MVP and KHQA Defensive Player of the Year … also earned multiple All-Conference honors as a running back, linebacker and wide receiver … set a WB6 Conference record scoring six touchdowns in one game … led Quincy to a pair of conference championships … will attend the Shrine Game and the Do or Die Bowl Game … also lettered in basketball three times, winning one conference championship and once in track … earned Academic All-Conference honors as well … high school teammate of Zack Aschemann.

Personal: Majoring in Design & Drafting Technology with a Horticulture minor … son of Joseph and Lisa Smith.
