SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Mikayla Ernst netted what proved to be the game-winning goal with four minutes remaining on the clock as the Central Missouri Jennies Soccer team posted a 1-0 shutout win over the Drury University Panthers in a rare Sunday night match on August 30, at the Lake Country Soccer Complex.
The Jennies (2-0) are scheduled to travel to Mankato, Minn., for a 4 p.m. contest at No. 15 Minnesota State (1-0) on Friday, Sept. 4.
Central Missouri controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting the Panthers (0-1-1), 11-5, but were unable to find a decisive goal until just before time expired.
Ernst, a senior forward from Raymore, Mo., corralled a pass from
Alexandra Hofbauer and placed it into the back of the net in the 86th-minute of the 90-minute match for her first goal of the season, securing the UCM victory.
Central Missouri goalkeeper
Kristen Wright (2-0) earned her second shutout of the season between the posts, going the full 90 minutes and giving up zero goals while making one save.
Campbell Morgan had the lone shot-on-goal for the home side, pacing Drury offensively.
