Jennies Softball Makes It Four Straight with Doubleheader Sweep Tuesday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (26-12, 9-5 MIAA) swept a pair of games against the Northeastern State RiverHawks (20-17, 7-9 MIAA) winning by final scores of 7-1 and 9-0 (5 inn.), on Tuesday, April 7, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.

This is the first time the Jens have swept back-to-back MIAA doubleheaders since the 2023 season, when Central Missouri swept Fort Hays State (April 16) and Nebraska-Kearney (April 17).

The Jens continue MIAA play on Friday, April 10, as they host the Washburn Ichabods (28-15, 5-9 MIAA) for a pair of games, during Campus Cupboard Day, with first pitch of game one slated for 2:00 p.m. in Warrensburg.

Game 1: Central Missouri 7, Northeastern State 1
Thanks to an RBI sac fly from Jenna Little that scored Aly Hageman, the Jens took a 1-0 lead after two innings of play.

Central Missouri tacked on three more runs in the third, beginning with an RBI double down the left field line from Marisa Johnson that scored Malia Bucksath and Bailey Brumley.

After Lexi Blackmon singled, she scored all the way from first on a throwing error by the NSU catcher, making it 4-0 Jens after three complete.

The RiverHawks plated a run in the top of the sixth inning, but with two on and one out in the bottom of the frame, Taylor Thompson blasted her team-leading 12th homer of the season.

Brumley (7-3) earned the victory in the circle, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five NSU batters. The senior also recorded her 100th career hit with the Jens thanks to a single up the middle in the bottom of the first for good measure.

Kyrsten Moran, Brumley, and Johnson paced the Jens offensively with multi-hit ballgames in the winning effort.

Game 2: Central Missouri 9, Northeastern State 0 (5 inn.)
After an RBI single from Thompson, followed by a bases-loaded RBI walk from Blackmon, and a Cydney Fullerton sacrifice fly, Emma McCall plated the fourth run of the inning with an RBI single to left center field after one inning of play.

The Jens extended their lead with a run in the third, before a Hageman RBI double and a Johnson RBI single in the bottom of the fourth made it a 7-0 advantage.

McCall (career-high four RBI in the ballgame) plated a pair with a double to conclude the scoring in the fourth, as Andi Siebeneck (10-4) earned the victory in the circle, allowing just three hits while striking out four on 83 pitches.
