Jennies Softball Falters in Regular Season Finale

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (33-17, 14-10 MIAA) dropped a pair of games against the Emporia State Hornets (28-15, 14-8 MIAA), by final scores of 3-2 and 9-6 on Wednesday, April 29, during Cancer Awareness Day, from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
 
Game 1: Emporia State 3, Central Missouri 2
With the bases-loaded and one out in the bottom of the second inning, Taylor Kvale's sacrifice fly to center field scored Aly Hageman, giving the Jens a 1-0 lead.
 
Central Missouri added an insurance run in the third with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Marisa Johnson that scored Kyrsten Moran, but the Hornets tied the game in the fourth and plated the winning run of the ballgame in the fifth.
 
Bailey Brumley (11-5) suffered the loss in the circle, while Lexi Blackmon paced the Jens offensively, collecting two hits in the ballgame.  
 
 
Game 2: Emporia State 9, Central Missouri 6
After scoring three runs in the opening frame of the ballgame, ESU made it a 4-0 advantage after an inning and a half of play.
 
Central Missouri responded in the bottom of the second beginning with a bases-loaded RBI hit-by-pitch from Kvale, before a Jadyn Sheffield sacrifice fly cut the lead in half, followed by an RBI double from Kyrsten Moran tied the ballgame at four.
 
ESU scored five runs in the top of the fifth, the Jens answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame thanks to back-to-back RBI singles from Marisa Johnson and Blackmon but were unable to complete the comeback.
 
Riley Bebb (4-5) suffered the loss in the circle for the Jens, while Blackmon went 4-4 in the doubleheader finale pacing Central Missouri offensively.
