ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (31-15, 12-8 MIAA) swept a doubleheader against the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons (21-21, 14-6 GLVC), winning by final scores of 7-5 and 8-2 on Tuesday, April 21, from UMSL Softball Field in St. Louis, Mo.
The Jens continue MIAA play on Saturday, April 25, as they take the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers (14-33, 3-15 MIAA) for a doubleheader during Senior Day, with first pitch of game one slated for noon from Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
Game 1: Central Missouri 7, Missouri-St. Louis 5
The Jens took a 3-0 lead after half an inning of play thanks to an RBI single from
Bailey Brumley, followed by a two-run dinger off the bat of
Aly Hageman.
After surrendering a run in the bottom of the frame, Central Missouri put up another three-spot in the second, beginning with another RBI double from Brumley, before a
Taylor Thompson RBI single made it 6-1 Jens.
The Tritons added a run in the third and cut the lead to one in the bottom of the sixth, but Hageman delivered her third RBI of the ballgame in the top of the seventh with a double to right center field en route to victory.
Brumley (10-4) earned her 10
th victory of the season in the circle, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out a career-high seven batters, while
Andi Siebeneck collected her second save of the season with a scoreless seventh inning.
Three Jens finished the ballgame with multi-hit performances, including Hageman (3-4, three RBI), Brumley (2-4, three RBI), and Thompson (one RBI) in the winning effort.
Game 2: Central Missouri 8, Missouri-St. Louis 2
Thompson's team-leading 16
th round-tripper of the season gave the Jens a 2-0 lead after the opening frame of the doubleheader finale.
Central Missouri added five runs in the top of the second, beginning with a bases-loaded RBI walk from
Jadyn Sheffield, followed by an RBI triple from
Kyrsten Moran, before a Brumley RBI sac fly made it 7-0 Jens.
Hageman plated the final run of the ballgame for UCM with an RBI single in the top of the seventh, before the Tritons scored a pair in the home half of the frame.
Siebeneck (12-4) picked up her team-leading 12
th win of the season in the circle, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out four batters in the ballgame.
Moran, Thompson, and Hageman each recorded two hits in the doubleheader finale, pacing Central Missouri offensively.
