EMPORIA, Kan. – Emporia State's Noah Steele hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, breaking a 4-4 tie, and leading the Hornets to a 6-4 victory over the No. 16-ranked Central Missouri Mules in the series finale of a three-game MIAA series on Sunday, April 19, at the Trusler Sports Complex.
The Mules (30-11, 20-9) are scheduled to travel to Topeka, Kan., for a 4 p.m. midweek MIAA contest at Washburn (18-24, 14-14 MIAA) on Tuesday, April 21.
Trey Jozwiakowski went 2-for-4 with his second home run of the season – a two-run homer in the fifth inning – and a double, and drove in three runs, pacing Central Missouri at the plate in the game.
Brock Kobel and
Lincoln Stephenson also each had a hit in the contest.Â
UCM reliever
Cale Willson (2-1) suffered the setback on the mound after giving up two earned runs on one hit with two walks and one strikeout in a third of an inning.
For the game, the Hornets (30-13, 17-12 MIAA) outhit the Mules, 6-4.
