PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Central Missouri Jennies (29-15, 12-8 MIAA) dropped a pair of games against No. 2 Pittsburg State Gorillas (43-2, 15-1 MIAA) on Saturday, April 18, from Pittsburg State Softball Complex in Pittsburg, Kan.

The Jens continue the 2026 season on Tuesday, April 21, as they take on the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons (19-19, 12-6 GLVC) for a doubleheader, with first pitch of game one slated for 2:00 p.m. from UMSL Softball Field in St. Louis, Mo.

Game 1: No. 2 Pittsburg State 5, Central Missouri 2
After the Gorillas took the lead in the bottom of the first, Central Missouri tied the ballgame in the second thanks to an RBI double from Cydney Fullerton, followed by a sacrifice fly off the bat of Taylor Kvale.

Pittsburg State answered with a pair of runs in the ensuing half inning, before adding an insurance run in the sixth, earning the victory.

Bailey Brumley (9-4) suffered the loss in the circle, while Fullerton, Lexi Blackmon, and Jadyn Sheffield had the lone hits of the ballgame for the Jens.

Game 2: No. 2 Pittsburg State 10, Central Missouri 8
In the doubleheader finale, Taylor Thompson's RBI single in the opening frame of the ballgame gave Central Missouri a 1-0 lead.

After PSU scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the second, the Jens had a runner on third and one out when Marisa Johnson delivered with an RBI single to left field that tied the score.

In the fourth, Brumley gave UCM the lead with an RBI single, before Thompson belted her team-leading 15th homer on the year, made it 6-2.

The Gorillas made it a three-run deficit after four innings of play, but took the lead with six runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Johnson plated her second RBI of the game with a single in the sixth that cut the lead to a pair, but PSU answered with a run in the bottom of the frame.

Kyrsten Moran's RBI single that scored Malia Bucksath was the only run the Jens could muster in the seventh inning as Madelyn Ducheneaux (3-2) suffered the loss in the circle.

Four Jens recorded multi-hit ballgames, including Moran, who went 3-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, pacing Central Missouri offensively.
