EMPORIA, Kan., and AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Central Missouri Track & Field team posted 10 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in two meets on Thursday, April 16.
Most of the Mules and Jennies competed at the ESU Relays at Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan., while the Mules'
Cooper Palmer ran at the Brian Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., at Cougar Stadium.
Sprints/Hurdles
- Nolan Vancauwemberghe finished first in the men's 110m hurdles with a provisional time of 13.78.
- Chika Bekwunye and Michenainda Aritus both finished in the top five of the women's 100m hurdles. Bekwunye won the event with a provisional time of 13.98 while Aritus was fourth with a time of 14.26.
- The Mules had three top 10 finishers in the men's 400m hurdles. Connor McKee was runner-up with a time of 53.35, Dylan Gray was third at 55.25 (personal best), and August Meadows was ninth at 56.93.
- Ariel Kerr was fifth in the men's 100m dash with a provisional and personal best time of 10.26. That time is the second-fastest in school history.
- Emily Meeks placed seventh in the women's 400m dash with a time of 56.44. She also placed in the top 10 in the women's 200m dash, finishing ninth with a time of 24.77.
- Jamoi Jackson finished eighth in the men's 400m dash with a time of 47.87.
- Riley Rolwing was ninth in the men's 200m dash with a personal best time of 21.66.
Jumps
- Zachary Proctor won the men's high jump with a provisional mark of 2.10m (6-10.75). Braiden Ferrell also finished in the top 10, placing sixth with a personal best-tying mark of 1.94m (6-04.25).
- Jeremy Bennett finished second in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.06m (23-02.00). Keaton Stone also placed in the top 10, finishing ninth with a mark of 6.46m (21-02.50).
- Therese Reindl and Kristen Jones both placed in the top 10 of the women's high jump. Reindl was third with a mark of 1.62m (5-03.75) while Jones was eighth with a mark of 1.52m (4-11.75).
- The Jennies had four top 10 performances in the women's pole vault. Kaira Mannio was fifth with a mark of 3.57m (11-08.50 – first attempt), Alaina Loman was seventh with a mark of 3.57m (11-08.50 – second attempt), Sydnie Bernard placed eighth with a mark of 3.42m (11-02.50 – first attempt), and Haley Sexton was ninth with a mark of 3.42m (11-02.50 – second attempt).
- Landon Childs posts a top 10 showing in the men's pole vault, placing sixth with a provisional mark of 4.97m (16-03.50 – second attempt).
- Myah Morris finished eighth in the women's triple jump with a mark of 10.69m (35-01.00).
- Lauren Welch posted a top 10 finish in the women's long jump, placing ninth with a mark of 5.38m (17-08.00).
Throws
- Landon Mason placed first in the men's discus with a provisional mark of 51.51m (169-00). Carson Sterling also placed in the top 10, finishing seventh with a personal best mark of 43.11m (141-05.00). Mason also won the men's hammer throw with a provisional throw of 58.83m (193-00).
- Shon Stark was sixth in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 50.97m (167-02).
- The Jennies went 3-5 in the women's javelin. Ally Fox was third with a provisional mark of 46.63m (153-00), while Karsyn Kanzler was fifth with a provisional mark of 46.32m (151-11).
- Marley Sands and Madison Mears both placed in the top 10 of the women's discus. Sands was fourth with a mark of 41.90m (137-05), while Mears was sixth with a mark of 41.38m (135-09).
- Briley Wishard and Madison Mears went 5-6 in the women's shot put. Wishard was fifth with a personal best mark of 14.05m (46-01.25 – seventh-best in outdoor school history), and Mears was sixth with a mark of 13.89m (45-07.00).
- Garron Blair finished in the top 10 of the men's javelin, placing sixth with a mark of 52.35m (171-09.00).
- The Mules had two top 10 performers in the men's shot put. Jackson Rooney was seventh with an outdoor personal best mark of 15.21m (49-11.00), while Carson Sterling was 10th with a personal best mark of 14.12m (46-04.00).
Relays
Distance
- At the Brian Clay Invitational, the Mules' Cooper Palmer placed 10th out of 65 runners in the men's 10,000m run with a provisional and personal best time of 29:49.06, which is third-fastest in school history.
The Mules and Jennies will have two more runners competing in the Brian Clay Invitational to wrap up the week, as
Ty Lewis will compete in the men's 800m run on Friday, April 17, and
Marianna Bizon will compete in the women's 1,500m run on Saturday, April 18.
